We cannot predict what the Decade of the Eighties will bring. Our lives seem to be under control of economic factors we cannot control-good will and support of an outside constituence, we remain on the knife edge between success and failure. If our family-alumni, faculty, student body, and staff-guards our flank, we can only become stronger within ourselves. If our benefactors-foundations, corporations, donors, and governmental institutions on the national, state, and local levels-continued their support, we can only become better capable of doing the job of educating young people. Our future, simply stated, depends on all of us doing the best we can. Our best must be the education of young minds, the strengthening of young bodies, and the bolstering of young spirits. If we succeed in turning the unformed young person of today into the productive citizen of tomorrow, we have secured the future for generations to come.
