Your commitment to the responsibility of pursuing your A education is commendable, especially during these most difficult economic times. You represent the best of America, and now you must assume the demanding task of going forth to serve others. The past four years have been replete with many transitions in your young lives. You have witnessed drastic changes in governmental policy, you have experienced first hand the frustration of a nation suffering from double digit inflation and unemployment, and you have held fast to the principles we hold dear as a people. During the coming years you will reap the fruits of your labors. You are now w tnessing new transitions in our nat1on's attitude. You are seeing more and more Blacks being elected to governmental posts in major cities. You are the generation of Americans who will learn to manipulate the complexities of computer technology for the benefit of mankind, the generation of young people who wi devise and implement new methods, programs, and practices which will ease the burden of pain in the world, and in so doing will raise the standard of life for all of us. I am confident that you are prepared to meet this task. In the future, as in the past, remember to continue to hold fast to those unchanging principles which have always guided us through difficult times. Never allow yourselves to become so important that you can no longer enjoy the conversations of children, that you fail to see the wisdom of the elderly, that you lack appreciation of the beauty of art and nature. Continue to learn and teach others the things you have learned. Commit yourselves to your people, and you will have made a bindin commitment to the world. Always trust in God, and know that we are the fulfillment of His promise.
