Very Reverend John R. Aherne, O.S.A., School Principal Father John R. Aherne, honored principal of our school, directs or oversees almost every phase of Saints' scholastic and physical life. As head of the English Department, Father Aherne conducts a senior class in Honors English. It is to his credit also that an extensive honors course has been established covering the field of Math for all four grade levels. This is an extension of last year's singular Honors Math and Physics course limited to seniors. With such diligent yet forceful direction, the administration of the school will continue to operate as the precisioned machine it is.

Our brilliant, wise, and personable faculty, although seemingly set apart from the student body by a barrier of dignity, have again managed to turn out a class of finished high school graduates from an abounding supply of fun-loving Saintsmen. This year, our educators have again succeeded in proiecting their wisdom to the students and, as always, have tried to cultivate their minds to a balanced, spiritual- educational level. Theirs is the immediate fate which awaits all high school teachers, but theirs also is the long-range reward of fulfillment which comes from im- parting their knowledge to the young. Without them all would have to learn by experience-by trial and error, a method prevented through the unsel- fishness and self-sacrifice of a group of Augustinian priests and dedicated Catholic laymen who comprise our faculty. . - ll

Mr. John Finan, hard working vice-prin- cipal after serving a year as athletic di- rector. Carrying the title of sheriff , he successfully maintains a strict order of dis- cipline which is vital to the atmosphere. Between his official duties, Mr. Finan finds time to teach freshmen algebra and me- chanical drawing. His time spent in the discipline office is continuously interrupted by streams of students seeking admission slips, gym excuses., etc., but his super- abundant spirit and devotion to students merit him as one of the most respected men on campus. Fr. Charles Danaher, O.S.A., Prior and Procurator of Saint Augustine. Father has for his responsibility all the school ex- penditures. Besides keeping his hand in the treasury, Father is Junior class coun- selor which keeps him busy with the iun- ior breakfast, rings, and iackets. Father is known around the campus for his subtle humor and his pets, Baby and Ella. His. home room is 4-D. Fr. Williams, O.S.A., our able Administra- tion assistant, responsible for all academic schedules, student placement, examination scheduling, and recording of all student marks.. The seriousness of his work is seen also in the laborious efforts he puts in the Mothers' Club Fashion Show and the C.S.F. dance, Blue Balloon Bounce. Father mod- erates the Austin Guild, California Schol- arship Federation, and teaches French I, ll, and Spanish ll. His home room is 4-C.
