FOREIGN LANGUAGES ENGLISH Do you want to learn another language and have fun in the process? You've come to the right place. We offer two foreign languages, French and Spanish. ln addition to speaking and writing the languages, you can learn the customs that accompany them. Whatever your choice. the English depart- ment has the course. There are different levels of English for each grade. For exam- ple: You can learn basic English in 2a, or you may study the English language in 2. English 2B allows you to expand your thinking with poetry, literature, and gram- mar. Students who take R.O.T.C. are not neces- sarily joining tbe Army, nor are they head- ed towards a career with the Navy. These students are just learning self discipline not to mention self-respect. This program has been active at S.A.H.S. for some time now. 2. W 212

IN SCHQQL SUSPENSIQN DRIVER S Do you enjoy leaving campus for lunch? Do you like to skip a few classes or days here and there? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you better enjoy In School Suspension. because that is where you'll be going for a few days if you're caught. This is a brand new program at S.A.H.S. and Mr. Alexander is in charge. Here the students do all their assigned work in an isolated room. No talking is allowed and all regular work must be completed. Motor safety, parallel parking, reverse weave, and dodging cones are just some of the important skills learned in driver's education. The course deals with how to handle the automobile . Hope- fully these skills don't go driving out the window after classl The goal of the social studies department is to in- crease the students' understanding of the govern- ing principles of society. The department offers several courses such as Civics, World History, World Geography, U.S. History and Psychology. The students will hopefully leave witb a better un- derstanding of the world around them. 2. 4
