GIRLS' STATE L. to R.: Barbara Bullingtor Margaret Lynn Patterson girls t and Boys t State The purpose of Boys' State and Girls' State is to teach those students that attend, the ways of democ- racy and living together with others successfully. Boys' State and Girls' State make their citizens more familiar with the State ofFlorida and its gov- ernment every year, for a period of one week, and exist as a counterpart of the government structure of Florida. Delegates are chosen locally from among Juniors in high school for their merit as citizens, stu- dents, and leaders. It is great experience to be a delegate to Girls' State or Boys' State, and one re- turns from Tallahassee with a clearer and brighter outlook on life and government in our State of Flori- da. Florida Boys' State and Florida Girls' State are sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Depart- ment of Florida. BOYS' STATE - L. to R.: Floyd Adams, David Lovett, Goody Seymour, Dallas Johnson.
