We have seen so lit- tle, yet so much of time, and have attempted to capture and hold some of it within the pages of this book. In these fleeting moments as life bears us on, like the stream of a mighty river. we are happy in hope, gay in laughter; and we grasp eagerly at the beauty of life about us. We attempt to hold much of what is dear to us. The days pass and never come again. Other days, just as bright, may dawn, but that day never comes again; yet, we may relive it in the pages of this book. Beauty fades; flowers die; the heart withers; man grows old and dies; the world ceases in the ages; but time writes no wrinkles on the face of eternity. table of 60mm Title Page Foreword Dedication Administration Faculty Annual Staff Senior Junior Sophomore Freshman Features Activities Sports Advertisements u i . .k 3.4m yiyixwwg; MISS MILDRED FUNK MRS. SUSAN SPENCER RQmeeWNKmS A teacher provides so much to so many. She plants the seed of knowledge and waters it to make it grow. She guides, disciplines, challenges, pushes, prods, and inspires. Too often we fail to give our teachers recogni- tion for the great part they play in molding our lives. We dedicate the 1962 Castilloto Mrs. Susan Spencer, Miss Mildred Funk, and Mrs. Ione James as a small token of our appreciation for their many years of service to the students of St. Augustine High School. Since words alone cannot express our gratitude, we hope this book captures the spirit of that thanks and of the school they helped to build. MRS. IONE JAMES W. DOUGLAS HARTLEY B. S. . M. S. Stored up inside, they often come back to taunt us just when we should be look- ing ahead to the future. We catch glimpses of happy moments gone for- ever or scenes never to be revisited. Suddenly we cherish an old meeting place or the memory of a smile on a face we may never see again. Memories can be lonely - and time moves slowly when you're alone. CLASS OFFICERS. left to right; Ralph Kaplan, Vice President; Marianne Dellacamera, Secretary; Billy Fleming, Treasurer; and Floyd Adams, President. TIME brings us to the end of our familiar world of youth and pushes us into the mysterious world of adulthood. As we stand on the threshold, we look back over our high school years filled with wonderful experiences: as Freshmen, we sold candy and put on the annual 'pajarna game; in our Sophomore year we had the concession stands at football and basketball games, and were the first Sophomore class to sponsor Homecoming; our Junior maga- zine sales set an all-time record, and our own Junior-Senior From, as well as class rings, gave us some of our proudest moments. At last, as Seniors, we learned the hard work and fun of class barbecues, the excitement of the Washington trip, the beauty and sadness of our last Prom, and the mixed emotions of graduation night. When voices seem to echo from out of the walls The whispers of ghosts long gone from these halls. Sometimes you can hear shouts and the clapping of hands As they cheer other teams from their seats iii the stands, Or see them cry at their team's first loss And know that they were no different from us. But soon they fade as fast as they 'd come And suddenly you realize how fast it's all done. How soon you must answer the future's call And become like the rest, just a ghost in the hall. Thought.
