1 5 Susan Kirkpatrick and Mary Phipps Bill Wall and Richare Swain Ashley Kraan and John Scoville Girls' and Hays ' State The purpose of Boys' State and Girls' State is to teach those students that attend, the ways of democracy and living together with others successfully. Boys' State and Girls' State make their citizens more familiar with the State of Florida and its government every year, for a period of one week, and exist as a counterpart of the gov- ernment structure of Florida. Delegates are chosen locally from among Juniors in high school for their merit as citizens, students, and leaders. It is great experience to be a delegate to Girls' State or Boys' State, and one returns from Tallahassee with a clearer and brighter outlook on life and govemment in our State of Florida. Florida Boys' State and Florida Girls' State are sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Florida fuden!
