In 1877 a little girl Was born to Michael and Ann Walerius of St. John's Parish, Minnesota, who was to celebrate her fifty years of service to God,s sick and poor as a Franciscan Sister at St. Anthony,s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Margaret Walerius, now Sister Aloysius entered the convent at Maryville, Missouri in 1899, received her habit in 1900 and came to Oklahoma City, in 1902. During these years, time and progress has brought many changes in every avenue of life, in transportation, in living, in science and medicine, in the treatment and care of the sick. Yet along with this modern movement silent and unobserved, quiet and steady with the single purpose of doing her Master's work walked this young girl from Minnesota. Fifty years, and who can estimate their value spent as they were not in scientific research and skillful nurs- ing, but unseen and unknown by those she served so 1902 - 1952 GOLDEN IUBILEE of the RELIGIOUS PROFESSION OF Venerable Sister Mary Aloysius Walerius ORDER OF ST. FRANCIS MARYVILLE, MISSOURI FEBRUARY 26, 1952 faithfully. Her work has filled an important place in the efficiency of every department of the hospital. Like her patron St. Francis, Sister Aloysius loves her little brothers the birds, and from her busy days, as super- visor of the laundry she finds time to scatter food for them as they flock around her familiar figure in the garden.
