An underdog Cleveland team stunned the Bulldogs to hand them their third successive defeat. The score was 32-6. St Anthony's lone touchdown was made in the fourth quarter on a 55 yard march which included a 30-yard Fournier to Rinando pass Fournier later sneaked over from the two-yard line. The Bulldogs' weak pass defense and the weak middle of their line were cited as reasons for the upset, while a surprising and hard fighting Indian team was determined not to be stopped. ' Bulldog stalwarts for the game were Rinando, McGinnis, Fournier, Lovoi, Salas and Daugherty. The Bulldogs went to their. fourth straight defeat before a spirited bunch of Kirwin Bucs who defeated them by a 27-12 count which helped upset a good homecoming. The Saints were punchless of- fensively mainly because of the loss of Ronnie Fontenot. The Bucs scored first to take a 7-0 lead. But the Bulldogs came back, featuring Jack McGinnis' four-yard run. This made it 7-6 in favor of Kirwin. The Bucs scored again in the second quarter and led by 14-6 at half- The Bucs scored another touchdown in the third quarter to make it 21-6 Shortly after the Bucs intercepted a pass and scored a little 4' while later to make it 27-6. The Bulldogs scored their last touchdown m the final period. Dragna hit Giardina with a 38-yard touchdown A pass to make the final score read: Kirwin 27-Bulldogs 12. Bulldogs came from behind to battle their way to a 20-18 victory over the Bishop Byrne Shamrocks at Shamrock Stadium. The Saints also snapped a four-year jinx held over them by Byrne. Ronnie Fontenot scored the first touchdown of the game when he slammed over from the Byrne 4. This score was set up by Kroutter who blocked a Byrne punt on the opponent's 9. Moments later Chaisson hit Sassine with a pass on the S. A. 40, and Sassine went the rest of the way untouched. This made it 7-6 in favor of the Bull dogs. However, with less than a minute left in the first half, Sassine scored from 9 yards out and the Shamrocks led at the half, 12-7. The Bulldogs drew first blood in the third quarter with Fontenot slamming over the goal from one yard out. The Shamrocks drove to the S.A. 7, then the Bulldogs took over on downs. The outstanding play of the game was highlighted by Fontenot's ,brilliant 93-yard touchdown run. This brought the score to 20-12. Fol lowing the ensuing kickoff, Byrne scored on the first play of scrimmage. Pete Chaisson passed to Castille for a touchdown, this play cornered 64 yards, and made the score 20-18' in favor of the Bulldogs. Bulldogs lost their fifth game of the season, against four wins. to the Silsbee Tigers by a score of 13-39, The Bulldogs, after capitalizing on two Silsbee fumbles in the first half for two touchdowns, were a punchless machine in the second half. The Bulldogs' first score came when Fontenot ran U5 yards to the Tiger fourg on the next play he slammed over to make it 7-0. A little later Fontenot drove over from the Tigers' two to make it 13-O. However, the Tigers scored twice in the first half to go ahead by I4-13 at the halftime. The Tigers again scored in the third quarter to make it 20-15. Although trailing by only one touchdown at the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs fell apart at the seams as the Tigers scored four more touchdowns to wrap up the ball game. Saint Thomas 26 - Bulldogs I3 With hopes of winning their first District Championship, the Bulldogs traveled to llouston to meet the St. Thomas Eagles. How- ever, the Eagles had other ideas and defeated the Bulldogs 26-13. The Bulldogs drew first blood with Fontenot only minutes after the kickoff. llowever, they did not score again until the fourth quarter and in the meantime the lfagles went across the stripes four times. The fourth quarter score. and final one of the season, was made by Fontenot on a sensational 70-yard gallop. Fontenot was the standout performer of the game but received some good blocks from his linemen. who gave it all they had.
