FRANK RINANDO RALPH FOURNIER NICKY PARIGI WALTER VUIGTMAN Bulldogs 38 - French 13 The S. A. Bulldogs hung up their straight win of the young season by crushing the F.H.S. Buffs by a score of 38-13, After a slow start, the Bulldogs started the rampage by unleashing a tremendous attack both on the ground and through the air, scoring at will, Their attack was spearheaded by Ronnie Fontenot and John LaBarbera. The Bulldogs displayed sharp blocking and a hard charging line to turn hack the Buffs. The first half was highlighted by LaBarbera's 541--yard gallop for a touchdown. Ronnie Fontenot scored another and the Bulldogs led 13-0 at the half. After LaBarbera and Fontenot scored two times each in the third quarter, Coach Frankovic emptied his bench, playing reserves the rest of the way. Saints 0 - Bulldogs 60 The S. A. Bulldogs, riding high over a three-game winning streak, finally met their superior on the dreary Friday night of September 25. The Bulldogs of Nederland, perhaps the greatest team Nederland has ever had - and will have - mercilessly slaughtered the Bulldogs of S. A. by an overwhelming 60-0 score. However, the Saints did not just lie down and play dead, but fought hard to the last. John Lovoi, making numerous tackles, stood out as the best performer of the night for the Bulldogs. Frank Rinando gains speed to dodge his opponents. Saints 12 - Gents 13 A heavily favored Crowley eleven came from behind to hand the Bulldogs a heartbreaking 13-12 defeat at Purple Stadium. Both St. Anthony touchdowns were made on Fontenot to LaBarbera passes. Crowley touchdowns were made on plunges by Cart and Gaspard. The Bulldogs scored first and held the lead until the fourth quarter, running out of downs until only seconds remained in the game.
