c.( a 6 t St. Anthony ' s Bulldogs Tame Silsbee Tigers Homecoming The St. Anthony Bulldogs, making their last appearance in Beaumont this year, made it a memorable one as they blasted Silsbee 28-13 to make the Home- coming a success. The game was far more one-sided than the score indicated as Coach Frankovic emptied his bench in an effort to hold the score down. Here is the play by play. The Saints took the opening kickoff and Lisotta raced to the S. A. 41, but the Saints were held, and punted to the Silsbee ' s 25 where Kenneth Barland fumbled and Trahan recovered for the Bulldogs. They scored seven plays later with Lisotta going over from the eight. Gon- zales converted to make it 7-0. Late in the first quarter a Fiorenza-Tremont pass gained 43 yards to the Bengal 17. At this point Andrew Wenner entered the game and scooted 17 yards for a score, eluding three Tigers in the process. Gonzales converted and it was 14-0 in favor of the Bulldogs at the half. After the colorful halftime festivities, the second half proved to be a repeti- tion of the first. The Silsbee fans had something to cheer about when Barland punted out-of- bounds on the S. A. one, but the cheers turned to groans as Fiorenza threw a ■ screen pass to Wenner who ran 98 yards all over Purple Stadium before being tackled on the Silsbee 1. The next play he scored and Gonzales kicked to make it 21-0. On the first play of the 4th quarter tragedy struck the Bulldogs as Fiorenza, harassed by the Tiger line, threw badly to his right and Elmore of Silsbee inter- cepted and ran 79 yards before Revere knocked him out of bounds on the one. Two plays later Barland scored and Million converted to make it 21-7. Five plays after the kickoff the Saints scored again with Lisotta going over from the 19. On this play Lisotta was never headed at he ran over Silsbee ' s defenders like paper bags. Gonzales once more converted to make it 28-7. The Tigers scored again against inexperiencd Bulldog reserves on the passing of Barland, who hit Elmore with a 24-yard pass to end the scoring for the night. Malain blocked the P. A. T. Outstanding for the Bulldogs were: James Tynan and Joe Lavoi, a couple of reserve guards, who literally tore the Silsbee line apart, as well as Savoy, Boudreau, and Tremont who also played well. John Lisotta and Andrew Wenner were outstanding in the backfield.
