St. Anthony 7 — Vidor By Hadley Melo The Saint Anthony ' s Bulldogs en- countered a surprisingly strong Vidor ball club but came home winner. The first quarter was all St. Anthony as they shook Lisotta loose on a 42-yard jaunt through half the Vidor team. They threatened several other times but were held by a stout Vidor line. The Saint dominated throughout the game but had a scare when Lansford of the Bucs ran 47 yards before being hauled down by Vincent Giardina. Norman Walker and Lisotta led the backfield while Jerry Sachitano, Fred Perlitz and Fontenot led the line. 4 Bulldogs Tie Lions 7-7 The St. Anthony Bulldogs batted a determined bunch of Livingston Lions to a 7-7 standoff at the Lions ' home field. Although the Saints held a great edge in statistics they were unable to cash in when it counted. The Saints scored first in the second quarter on a 48-yard pass from Sopho- more Andy Wenner to Andrew Boud- roau who caught it on the Lions ' teri imd rambled over. Julian Gonzales ' conversion was good and it was 7-0. At the halftime, the Saints ' superi- ority spoke for itself as Livingston never penetrated beyond its 38. The second half was a different story, however, as the Lions unleashed a passing attack and drove 47 yards with Bobby Fair scoring from the one. Rowe kicked the tying point. The Saints threatened again m the last quarter when they marched to the Lions ' 18, but a pass interception put out the fire. Harry Fontenot, with his collegiate type linebacking, was the star in the Saint line while Boud- reau averaged well over 40 yards with his punts. Paul Prejean paced th. The Bulldogs got W % off to a fast start after recovering a Byrne fumble. A Fiorenza-Giardina pass carried down to the Shamrock ' s 9, but then they were held. The Saints continued outplaying Byrne until the last minute of the second quarter when Ledet took a handoff and ran 67 yards for a score. The try for the extra point was no good. After the intermission the Bulldogs threw caution to the winds and passed on nearly every play, 21 in all but they couldn ' t match the to Ledet. Herret connected.
