O Ed1tor1als RETREAT On Ianuary 2426 the h1gh school students w1thdrev1 them selves from Worldly atfarrs to enter wholeheartedly 1nto the annual three days retreat The conferences were conducted by the Reverend Norbert E S hmalz O F M M1SS1OU Pro urator tor the Franclscan MISQIDUGFY Unxon Many lastmg thoughts were deeply engraved ln the mlnds of the students by the wellrnformed retreat master Three days ot sohtude and communlng w1th Gad are ex ellent and advlsable to anyone as a means at splrrtual ad van emcnt HEALTH Durmg the p st year the h1gh school has aga1n had the pr1v1 lege of rece1v1ng a course 1n healh sponsored by the St Louls Chapter at the Am rlcan Red Cross Mxss Dorothy Ourgley a regrstered Red Crcss nurse conduct d the class s 1n Hoaltn and HYQ1916 for the Freshmen and Sopho mares and rn Home l'Iyg1ene and Care of the S1 k for the Senrors The Iunrcrs W re grven a course rn Flrst A1d by the1r regular sclence teacher Through the courtesy ot Mrss Oulgley and the Srsters at St Mary the Senrors spent an ent1re aft rnoon v1s1t1ng the varlaus departments ot St Marys Hospltal where they observed hosprtal routme and w1tnessed the pra t1cal :lemon stratlon of many of the health prlnclplos they had studred 1n the1r course The students wlsh to express llWG1f apprec1at1on to the school and to the St Lotus Chapter of the Amencan Red Cross for the many and far reachrng advantages obtarned from these class s PARLIAMENTARY LAW Dunng the frrst Week of the s cond semester the students dev1ated from the regular schedule and assembled for about two hours each day to study and d1s cuss tne prlnclples of par tarnentary procedure The course wh1ch was conducted by Mrs Frankltn M Oulnn LLB at Cleveland Oh1o ehctted the attentlon ot the students whose keen rnterest ln the work was shown by the1r spontaneous response and the1r eagerness to part1c1pate IH the drxlls and d monstratrons Such a course should nrcely supplement the trarnmg re elved ln the other cultural branches of study and should a1d the students cortstderably 1n the1r later economlc and soc1al hte IN MILITARY CIRCLES In response to an 1nv1tat1on from the Chr1st1an Brothers College Dolores Planthold a member ot the Sentor Class was chosen representat1ve from our h1gh school to part1c1pate 1n the rmlrtary tuncuons of the college She was ap pornted Honorary Cadet by the Cadet Corps and appeared at the1r annual mLs1 al productron Purple Patches presented Ianuary 10 and I2 and at the M1l1tary Revrew held on the sclool campus on Apr1l 24 DRAMATICS Ioan of Arc a re lrgxous h1stor1cal play presented under the d1re t1on of Mrs Iulla Klauber was of the year The attent1ve audlen e together w1th the splendld actlng ab1l1ty drsplayed once more proves that peo ple do appre 1at plays of a rellgrous and elevat1ng nature The Senrors also successfully pre sented Charles D1ckens A Chr1stma Carol and the Iumors The Flrst Flag by Bnggs BOWLING Some of the h1gh school g1rls Imd bowl1ng an mterestrng drver s1on and satrsfactory physlcal exerc1se A pure and wholesome act1v1ty 1t IS looked forward to each year by bowl mg enthusrasts who hnd St Anthony s bowl1ng alleys Well equlpped tor the sport AMATEUR CONTEST On Tuesday and Wednesday May 7 and 8 Mrs Loretta T1eber a member of the Senlor class Mrss V1v1an Getttnger a Frcsh man and Iulta Fremon partrclpated tn a rnus1cal Iestlval for Cathohc h1gh school students at Fontbonne College Loretta entered the vocal class Vtvran the v1ol1n1sts and Iulra the pramsts . .
