M. twhose memory we all reverei, while pastor of St. Anthony's Parish, realized the necessity of banding his young men together into an organization that would afford them good, wholesome, Christian amusement as well as education. Many of the young men, especially the members of the male choir, had for some time taken a great interest in amateur dramatics, and the dramas which they staged met with much success. Father Innocent seized upon this opportunity to found a permanent organization among the young men of the parish. He commissioned Rev. Marcelline Kohlmeyer, O. F. M., Who was then assist- ant to the pastor, to call a meeting for that purpose. On December 1, 1889, the first meeting was held. Mr. Frank Musholt was chosen temporary chairman, and Mr. John J. .Rotermund temporary secretary. The organiza- tion of a permanent dramatic club was decided upon, and a committee composed of Messrs. Martin A. Rust, Henry B. Rust, John J. Rotermund, Jacob Mees and Henry R. Rehme, was appointed to draft a constitution and set of by-laws. One week later a second meeting was held, at which the constitution drawn up by the committee was submitted for approval and unanimously adopted. The new Organization was named the MA'RYVILLE DRAMATIC CLUB, and was composed of the following charter members: Philip Bardenheier Math. Hofmann John Moellmann John P. Rehme Nick Becker Joseph J.
