Street OUR LADY OF THE STREET This is a painter's dream . . . - A woman, a child and a starlit hill. Etched in a dim blue twilight. While all the world is still. Upon her hair the wind is blowing, Like music that gently swells, Her hand is turned as if some song Had left a flight of bells. She comes this way, this daring hour, With a longing in her eye . . . And we who watch and wait and pray Will hear her passing by. Above the din of song and laughter, Above the shuffling of the feet, We seem to hear the gentle footsteps Of Our Lady of the Street. We'll watch her pass our street some night She'll come again some day, When all the birds are gone, she'll come And lead us on our way. Some hour when the world is sleeping, The streets will burst in song . . . A Lady comes with an Infant, To right the world from wrong! Stay, Lady, for the night is calling.
