Even though Joe left us during his Sen- ior year to enter the seminary, we feel that he is still a member of our class and rightfully deserves a place amongst us, s O God, Who in Thine ineffable prov- idence, hast deigned to send Thy holy angels to watch over us: vouchsafe to Thy suppliants in all our days to find safety in their protection, and ,in eternity to share their happiness. Amen. Catholic education must recognize the catholicity of truth under all its aspects, and tend to actualize it in all the relations of life, in religion and civilization. There- fore Catholic education has a twofold work. Its first and primary, indeed, is to save souls, to lead men to eternal life. lts second. but no less true, is to ripen and to elevate the social and political life of men by its influences of morality and law.
