Some of their activities this year include a German Breakfast, the annual candy sales in November and December, a roller skating party, and the Schmeckfest (a pot luck of German foods.) Officers this past year were: Tracy Johnson, President; Kelly Howe, Vice President; Helen Scripture, Secretary; Clint Farlinger, Treasurer; Lynn Theobald, Deanne Pierce, Program Chairpersons Journalism Staff members are hired at an hourly rate by the school district to write accounts of school activities to be published in the St. Ansgar Enterprise and Stacyville Monitor Review. This year's employees were: Clint Farlinger, Darrell Mullenbach, Tracy Johnson, Sara Thome, Ramona Wolff, Nancy May, and Kelly Howe.

Not pictured: Liz Bruggeman FHA The St. Ansgar Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America plays an active role in student life. It's a way for young adults to assume responsibility and gain leadership skills by working together. FHA has sponsored several activities this year: a kidnap breakfast to initiate new members; the annual chili supper in the fall; and we've hosted various speakers. There are also many activities that the FHA and FFA chapters take part in together: swim parties, hay rides, cook-outs, and Christmas caroling. The annual Sweetheart Swirl, a formal dance, is the major event that the two clubs plan and organize. Our chapter also sponsors Hush Day in February, awarding a Mr. Irresistible or Miss Hard-to-Get to the person who does the best job of either ignoring or persuading members of the opposite sex to speak with them. This fall, the chapter attended the District FHA meeting at NIACC. Laurie Low, our district representative, was chosen secretary of the district. The Rose Breakfast is held at the end of the year to install new officers and to say farewell to the Seniors. This year we had the opportunity and privilege of breaking in a new advisor, Mrs. Bonnie Wendt.

They are voted in by their respective classes. The advisor is Mr. Luense. The student council was involved in many activities this past year. Among them were: all Homecoming activities — the dance, the week's dress-up activities, painting windows downtown, and selling Saints seat cushions. Others were: computer compatibility testing (the students were given questionnaires and they were then given a list of their ten most compatible match-ups.) They also hosted a co-ed volleyball tournament during Wellness Awareness Week and held a breakfast for the academic letter winners. At the end of the year, the council awards scholarships to qualifying members of the Senior class. Honor Society members are chosen during their Junior year. Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 qualify.
