You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears Be happy that we had so many years I gave you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come Though you can't see or touch me I'll be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All my love around you soft and clear And then, when you must come this way alone I'll greet you with a smile, and Welcome Home'' Author Unknown ANNUAL STAFF 6 Another year has gone by - a year filled with many great accomplishments in sports, music, drama, and academics. But the greatest accomplishment of all had to be the completion of this yearbook. The year was filled with many long hours of hard work - but looking at the finished product, we feel it was worth it. We have tried to capture all of the joys, sorrow, and disappointments of the year, and make the book as unique as the individual who looks through it. Hopefully as you page through it the memories will be as vivid as the day they actually happened. We'd like to say a special thanks to our new advisor, Mrs. Pleggenkuhle. It was a lot of fun working and learning with you. We wish you the best of luck next year. We'd also like to thank the '83- 84 stuffers. You made the year memorable and enjoyable. After working for a year on this book it feels good to be done, and we are proud of what we have done. Proudly we present to you the 1984 annual. Please read and enjoy. Forty-two choir members, plus Mr. Larry Michehl, director, and two chaperones traveled to Missouri for the 3-day stay in St. Louis. The choir competed in a vocal contest Friday and sang At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners' , Lit- tle Wheel a-Turnin , and The Glory of the Father . They re- ceived two Division II ratings and a Division I rating. After the competition, choir members checked in to the Holiday Inn and departed for Six Flags amusement park for six hours of fun. On Saturday, the choir toured the Magic House Museum with over fifty challenging exhibits of magical fun. From there they depart- ed again for Six Flags. Sunday the choir visited the St. Louis Zoo and from there they went to Grant's Farm, the picturesque show- place once farmed by our 18th President, General Ulysses S. Grant. Following the tour of Grant's Farm the choir departed for home with arrival time scheduled for 12:00 a.m. However, the trip had an unexpected ending! Three miles from STA the bus ran out of gas and the choir found itself stranded without heat in a spring snow storm. Another bus rescued the travelers and got them back to the school by 3:30 a.m. German Trip In early March three students from St. Ansgar went on a 15-day trip to Germany. Sara Buechele, Ann Jorgensen, and Ramona Wolff (after enduring an ice storm in Chicago which delayed their flight by a day) flew to Luxemburg and then rode a bus through Southern Germany on the way to their family stays for six days in Ravensburg, Germany. Other stops on their trip included Rothenburg and Mu- nich in West Germany and Salzburg in Austria. They also had the chance to cross the borders of France, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein while they were in Europe. The three did their best to speak German most of the time. Good work, girls! 1.
