I am sure I was so quiet when I first came here. This was because I didn’t know how to speak English. But now I hope I remember how to speak Japanese. 1 really can say I enjoyed every moment when I stayed with you. I had a lot of new experiences and a lot of fun. I want to tell you all about it, but it’s too much to write down. 1 hope you remember me every time you look at this page. I want to thank all of you who talked to me (even who teased me) and for all of the good memories you gave me. 1 wish I could stay here longer. Hope to see you again sometime. Friends, Kiyoko Jaana Virtanen I had an interesting year here in ST A. It was nice to meet you all. Some of you became closer to me than others. Altogether, I had fun here in the farming state of Iowa. I learned alot of new things and saw many places. It has been great. I would like to thank a few people. Especially thanks to Mr. Tyler for being a great principal; Sharon Borchardt for being a great sister and friend; Sana Schubert, Patty Gerlach, Heidi Zellmer, Ann Studer, Linda Studer, Judy Salz. and all the others in school for being such good friends. We finally present to you the 1983 annual. Who would have ever thought this day would come. It has taken us many long nights filled with hours of work, play and food. I don’t think we could have made it without our trustworthy popcorn popper to keep us nutritionally fit. We would like to thank the ’82-’83 annual stuffers for the great job they did in helping piece this book together. Also to Mrs. Pleggenkuhle for all the time spent doing lettering. We’d especially like to thank Mr. Townsend for putting up with us for so long. The Annual Staff will really miss him. Well to all of you annual readers-enjoy the annual and hopefully in years to come, as you dig it out from the back of your closet, it will bring the memories flooding back as vivid as the rainbow on the cover. To Mr. Townsend-it’s been great working with you. and to Mrs. Pleggenkuhle- Welcome aboard!! Jane and June Juenger Co-editors As my final year as annual advisor comes to a close, I would like to say a few things about this past year. To the 1983 graduating class -1 hope you find this yearbook a rewarding one. Our goal as always is to capture the school year in a way that you may have seen it with your own eyes. I hope you find this to be true. To the 1982-83 Annual Staff - many thanks for all the hours spent working when you could have been doing other things that may have been more enjoyable. I really appreciated your dedication! 1 would also like to add a special thanks to Mrs. Pleggenkuhle for all her fine lettering, and to two excellent co-editors, Jane and June Juenger. You have done a fine job! Also a special thanks to Clint Farlinger for all the photos, to Amy Hackenmiller as the best Interior Design Consultant around and to Laurie Hackenmiller as one of the finest connoisseurs of popcorn!! I would like to wish the 1983-84 Annual Staff and your new advisor. Mrs. Pleggenkuhle, the best of luck in the future. Thank You All, T. Townsend Stuffers Around each bend a new day dawns A new friend waits to share in the dark To lead us through each care Joan Kerber - - -
