VOCATIONAL DEPARTMENT Dave Hinman: Vocational Agriculture Mr. I tinman proudly announced that the St. Ansgar Chapter of Fu- ture Farmers of America won the premier exhibit at the Minnesota Spring Barrow Show this year. Mr. Hinman also had another an- nouncement-the birth of his baby daughter. He also included the “paddle method” in his teaching as a means of discipline. Richard Hogan: American History II. Psychology. Latin II Dale Thrond: Government. Sociology, World History Terry Christianson: Vocational Homemaking Mrs. C hristianson’s senior homemaking class is having quite a new experience this year. The foreign exchange student, Maria Gon- calves, has been teaching the class how to cook many of her native dishes. Mrs. Christianson also tried something new this year for the FFA-FHA Sweetheart Swirl. The swirl, Midnight Royale, was a totally black and white formal, decorated with black and white roses and many silhouettes. James Luensc: American I listory I, Eastern Civilization, Eco- nomics, Economic Geography SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT Mr. Hogan has had a totally new experience in St. Ansgar this year. He is new to the St. Ansgar schools, is new to the modular schedul- ing, and is teaching all new subjects. He comments, “I’ve really en- joyed this year. The kids are all just great.” This year. Mr. Luense, along with the other coaches, shared the pride of taking their basketball team to the sub-state tournaments. He also has found a new system of teaching this year. This is the “Think System:” the students must arrive at their own decisions. Mr. Thrond has again made it through another year with those ex- asperating seniors, retaining his customary calm. Next year’s class: the seniors of 1969 envy you for he has been willed a sense of hu- mor for next year. Don’t forget gang: worksheets and book reports, NEWSWEEKS and government lectures! The graduating class of 1969 most generously will to the future seniors of 1970 all of their best memories from STA! 11
