FORMULATING OUR POLICY The Student Council is the governing group of students in S.A.C.H.S. and is composed of fourteen of the most able and reliable students--two freshmen, three sophomores, four juniors and five seniors. These stu- dents cooperate with the faculty in the sponsoring and management of many school activities. They planandexecute numerous projects for the betterment ofthe school and serve the school when called upon to do so. The council sponsored an all high-school party in the fall, and the homecoming with itscolorful floats, queen contest, pep ralley and snake dance. A magazine drive, the hand book,thecadets, the polio drive and eighth grade day are other projects undertaken annually by the council. Duringtheyear the council sponsoredsixprofessional talent assemblies. John Martin was honored by being selected to serve as a discussion leader at the State Student Council Convention held at the Congress Hotel in Chicago on April 20 and 2l. Miss Trout and Wayne DeYoung also attended the Convention. The officers are: Robert Sprimont, President: Elwood Tallman, Vice- President: John Martin, Secretary: and Marguerite DeYoung, Treasurer. Miss Trout and Mr. Minton are sponsors. ALWAYS ON THEIR GUARD The Cadets which originated withintheStudent Council were organized during the latter part of September. Duties of the Cadets were to reg- ulate corridor lighting, collect absence slips from each class room, check the students passing through corridors between periods, carry messages for the office and faculty, and greet and direct visitors. Marguerite DeYoung was elected Cadet Captain and Elwood Tallmanwas elected Secretary at the first meeting. The meetings were heldmonthly. The Cadets this year were very efficient which made them a very use- ful organization.
