BELIEVE IT OR NOT Here it is Iune 7, 1956! I would never have believed that I could look back and gaze upon those carefree graduates of '46 who have since emerged as the most prominent citizens of the United States. Who am I to tell you this??l!! Introductions are not in order: I am Father Time. All individuals interest me, and especially do these thirty-live distinguished young men and women, members of the alumni of St. Ann's High School, Lansford, Penn- sylvania. Fame and fortune is theirs in all walks of life, and I deem it my greatest privilege to present them to you. Foremost in my line of focus lies Mary A. Melley. Mary is an ace test pilot for the Glenn Hammond Curtiss airplane-manufacturing plant, New York. In all probability you have read accounts of her daring performances for she is renowned throughout the world. Now, behold Anne Coury, who resides in the Empire State. As mana- ger of the illustrious Dreamway Theatre, at Times Square, she is constantly in connection with the playwrights, actors, and producers of the 'Great White Way, As I recall, only a few days ago, Iames Ferrara, celebrated trumpet player, and his Syncopators, featured Helen Liposky as vocalist in Anne's theatre: a feat which brought acclaim from the leading critics, among these being Edward Boyle. His views of theatrical exhibitions are published as a daily column in the New York Times, of which Francis Bubak is editor. I remember how he hated to write compositions in high school, but Stephanie Benek is his amanuensis and advisor. lust the other day, Francis had pub- lished a detailed account of Manuel Dominic, who is now in Peru, conducting an expedition for the recovery of ancient relics and records of the Inca Indians of Peru. In his company are George Repik and Edward Coury, surveyor and engineer, respectively. George and Edward discovered the site of an Inca temple which is more than 1,000 years old. Back in New York, Edward Hebda is the illustrator for this geographical research. Manuel will forward his findings to the New York Museum, where in September he will begin a series of lectures on the customs and life of this ancient tribe. Doctor George Demetriades, D. D. S., has just opened his Park Avenue ofHce in New York. George has recently received the degree of Bachelor of Medicine from Penn State University, where four years ago he was acclaimed the man most likely to succeed. In the same vicinity, a promising young lawyer, Iohn Kelly, resides in a Park Avenue penthouse. He is recognized for the valuable assistance he gave the district attorney in prosecuting the expose? of the State vs. Densley case. In the midst of the hubbub in the nation's capital, Washington, D. C.. Postmaster General Iohn Cannon has returned from the Hfteenth consecutive U. N. O. conference held at Berne, Switzerland. While overseas, he encoun- tered Eleanor Porambo, who is acting secretary for the Polish Ambassador, Augustus Poniatowski. Iohn also learned that Irene Uher, a former class- mate, is employed as chief interpreter for the Czechoslovakian embassy. His return trip was marked by an impressive coincidence, for his plane was piloted by Marine Captain Iohn W. Nowak, who at this time was on a mission to Washington, D. C. His mission completed, Iohn made his way to the Walter Reed Hospital to visit a buddy of his in the Marine Air Corps, who was recuperating from injuries sustained in an airplane crash. 2794 Iohn met Mrs. Cyril Van Witherspoon III, nee Elizabeth Skrabak. F.lizabeth's husband is chief surgeon on the hospital's staff, with Helen Crampsie as his assistant surgical nurse. Iourneying onward to the Mid-West, I discern many more familiar faces. In Chicago, Philomena Pavone heads the Brent College for Beauticians. The hair styles she has created are nationwide because of their uniqueness. Phil- omena's studio was designed and remodeled by those incomparable interior decorators, Dolores E. Bartley and Elizabeth L. Camp. Not far away, Doctor Catherine O'Donnell, M. D., carries on her practice in her own private hospital. Inez McCu1lion, R. N., is an asset to the institu- tion, proving her capability as supervisor of nurses. The modern laboratory of this hospital is conducted by Bernadine Konicki, who is furthering her studies in phrenology. Heeding the call of the Far West, we find Theresa Ogozalek vacationing in Nevada, where she hopes to obtain some scenic color and atmosphere for her forthcoming poetry. You are already acquainted with her Students Anthology. I have traversed the vast territory of the United States and it is with pleas- ure I enter San Francisco, California, for here I find Commissioner Kieran Dale of the city police. He was influential in uncovering the espionage plot on the waterfronts of this great metropolis. On Pier 62, the largest refueling base for both ships and tankers, is owned and managed by Ioseph S. Kocon and Francis I. Stachina, the great petroleum magnates. The liner, UU. S. S. Ronsonf' raised anchor and embarked on a pleasure cruise to the Philippines from this pier. On board were Ieanne Kelly and Mary Mayzel. Ieanne, an eminent physician, is bound for the South Sea islands where she will continue her experiments for the cure of rare tropical fevers. Mary, however, will go on to Hong Kong, China, where her newest film is in casting. She will portray the heroine opposite Niles Astor, famous screen star. As you see, these friends of mine have traveled far and wide. Irene Petrich has recently returned from France, where she received her degree of Master of Fine Arts. She was graduated with highest honors from the Paris Con- servatory of Music. Her close friend and associate, Helen Galgoci, is also in Paris, for she is superintendent of the Bequerel Foundation for the Advance- ment of Uranium Study. She recently aided Dr. Benreau in his discovery of the ninety-seventh element. Only a few weeks ago, Helen met an old friend and colleague, Ann Boyle, who has completed her course of study in labora- tory technology at the Sorbonne Institute, Paris. Anne and Helen had dinner together at the Cafe de Rue. Suddenly an amiable photographer snapped their picture. Who was behind the camera? You've guessed it! It was none other than Ieanne Gallagher, who had climbed the heights to fame as Holly- wood's foremost protographer. Ieanne is touring Europe in order to find some picturesque spot for a sequence in Van Grant Productions' new film. These three had quite a night for renewing acquaintances and for that matter, so have I. In fact, this resume? has left me breathless. I hope and trust the following years shall prove as profitable for the Class of '46 as has the short ldicade since they have ventured from the mantle of their beloved Alma ater.
