CLASS PRCDPHESY In the year 1991 at the Long Island estate of Mr Davrd Shrelds Esq gathered the St Andrew s class of 1959 The occasron tor the reunron was the celebratron of Shrelds berng named Presrdent of the newly merged Pennsylxanra New York New Haxen Hartford Central and Delaware Rarlroad Corporatron Parked rn the curxrng mrle long drrxeway of the 4231Vv acre estate was the most awe rnsprrrng array of cars ex er seen assembled together The badly dented Ford Thunderbrrd belonged to one Tom Marshall who had achreved great fame rn the entertarnment world He bought out U P A s rrghts to The Near Srghted Mr Magoo and doubled the popularrty of thrs cartoon character by changrng Mr Magoos face to resemble a portrart of Tom done by ace cartoonrst Phrl Gorran creator of The Lrttlest Spook Behrnd the banged up T Brrd was the armor plated Rolls Royce lrmousrne of Under world Mob Krng Peter the Gent yon Starck Hrs heayrly armed bodyguard chauffeur Dennrs Sweeney mrssed all the festryrtres rn the palacral mansron whrlc he stood guard over the mobrle arsenal He drdnt mrss all the fun though for he rncl Shrelds elab orately festooned butler Brll Helm became engaged rn a fast game of crap Helm was so slerght of hand and played so deceptrvely that he soon fleeccd Sweeney completely and left the dumfounded loser srttrng rn the drrxe babblrng to hrrnself Ran Marshall Ed McCabe Rob Crarghrll and Drck Barron were the dm ers of the four car Coryette team just returned from capturrng hands down the last four places at Sebrrng They drdn t stay long as therr boss had been searchrng for them ex er srnce therr drsappearance after therr rgnomrnous defeat Cousrn Hunter Harrrs sent hrs best regards through hrs rrght and left hand men Wee Wrlly Grubb and that lrttle clear Walt Phrllrps Seems that the Feds frnally caught Harrrs and were holdrng hrm for runnrng a charn of strlls deep rn the back hrlls of Kentucky Hrs representatrves used to the hard lrquors they brew ed and unaccustomed to the mrld sprrrts serxed proceeded to consume all the alcohol at hand Thrs greatly from one of the eley en low hangrng chandelrers banged rt on the heads of unsuspectrng guests below Rem Barnard seerng hrs cohort cavortrng so gleefully grabbed hrs own bottle and followed surt Thrs near rrot brought bouncers Dave Hrndle and ex lrfeguard Bob Seddon to the scene Wrth therr ears flapprng rn the breeze created by the swrngrng chandelrers the two brutes strode rnto actron and deposrted the two vrolently protestrng acrobats on the outsrde of the massrye electrrcally operated rron gates Suddenly all eyes turned as Brother Domrnrck peeled rubber from the trres of hrs Mercedes Benz SOOSL as he raced up the drryeway Thrs rotund Monk from St Cuth berts Monastery recognrzed as Mose Prrce qurckly became rm oly ed rn a heated drscus sron of the merrts of Chrrstranrty as opposed to those of the ewrsh Relrgron wrth Adams Followrng rn the dust of the Mercedes came Speed Krng Grady on hrs yet black Harley Motorcycle rm began hrs trrp to the reunron at Bermuda wrth Art Haycock However after the two reached the States and had unloaded the cycle from the tramp steamer that brought them oy er Grady roared off rnto the drstance rn an enormous cloud of black smoke completely forgettrng Art rn hrs lust for speed A gala floor show was staged for all those who werent too rnebrrated to watch rt A wrestlrng rrng had been constructed rn the center of the mam ballroom Here a tag team consrstrng of Wrldman Van Valkenburgh and Errc the Ape Godshalk almost oblrterated the team of One Muscle Russell Chesney and The Holy Man Coley Brown Ben Powell had acted as bookre for all those who wrshed to bet on the match and used the fog surroundrng the rrng to cover up hrs get away wrth the money When aeger and Jones learned they had been swrnclled of therr hard earned cash they flew rnto an uncontrollable rage Usrng the muscles they had developed durrng long hours at Muscle Beach they led the search for Powell ones howeyer found Shrelds latest rssue of Playboy and forgettrng hrs rage dropped out of the manhunt to read hrs fayor rte magazrne The rest of the paclc went screamrng out of the mansron towards the slowly rrsrng sun Some sly sleuth had found a trarl of corns whrch had undoubtedly drop ed out of the fleerng Powells pocket and the whole mob tore off after hrm Shrelds sadly sank rnto hrs far orrte easy charr and slowly surx eyed the scene presented by hrs prllaged mansron He sery quretly settled rnto a well earned sleep as the rest of the world began to get up and one of hrs trams hooted far off rn the drstance 7 , 1 A A I ' ly l A V I ,I V I 1 V ra V 1 1 3 K ' ' v' ' , ' r v 6 ' a 'L -' I ' r A . , ' 7 - - ' ,. - 1 , 1- ' ' . . 26 CLASS HISTORY The Class of 1959 entered St Andrew s un 1954 wuth sew enteen members On une suxth we well graduate seyen of them Andy Adams Duck Barron Coley Brown Grady Art Haycock Ran Marshall and Holland Van Vulkeuuburgh In our Second lorm year we were led academucally by Barron and Brown On the athletic helds we started out on sux man football and the other yunuor teams where Rm Murshall led us gettung hus numerals un baseball Our number uncreascd to 25 us we entered the South Dorm to begun the Thurcl Form year under the powers ot Gregory and Rodgers Academucally Ben Powell a new member was our leader Athletucally Andy Adams Wullue Grubb and Ben Powell be came our first letter wunners un wrestlung rennus and basebtll respectuy ely Adams um uneduately retured to the squash courts for the next three wunters Ran Marshall and um Grady shared the presudentual dutues for the year Durung the Wunter term we elected Mr Hawkuns our Form Adx usor a moye w huch has returned us many du udends un guudance and leadershup The Fourth Form Year was unarked wuth seyeral outstandung cyents as we became the first class to occupy the new wung We moy ed un un September umud plasterers car penters and clectrucuans and luyed for scxcral weeks amud theur work We too were thc furst class to be awakened each mornung by the chumes un the newly buult memorial towcr Ben Powell agaun led us wuth the books whule Wullue Grubb became our first three sport letterman wunnung letters un football basketball und tcnnus Run Marshall Hunter Harrus Chuck Dunbar Art Haycock und Coley Brown added theur names to our lust of letter wunners Art was co captaun of the soccer team Hunter Harrus and um Grady each sery ed a term as form presudent Upon arruvung on the Fufth lorm corrudor we w ere youned by Rem Barnard Russell spend an extra year at St Andrew s thus tume wuth our class because we were such a swell bunch of fellows Wullue Grubb was our presudent that year Ran Marshall was our yuce presudent Ben Powell our treasurer and Daxe Shuclds our secretary Bull Helm Bob Seddon and Walt Phullups jouned the ranks of football letter wunners whule ohn aeger and Andy Adams won theur hrst soccer letters Ben Powell was elected football captaun for 1958 and Art Haycock was elected soccer co captaun Varsuty wrestlung saw Chuck Dunbar and Walt Phullups wun letters and Ran Marshall was elected captain for 1959 Hunter Harrus and Wullue Grubb agaun won letters un basketball the latter beung chosen as captaun for the 1959 season Baseball called Coley Brown and Ben Powell to bat and Coley was elected captaun for 59 In tennus Wullue Grubb was elected captaun for the 59 season Hunter Harrus won hus first crew letter and Daye Hundle who was to youn us un our Suxth Form year was named captaun In the Sprung untramural track meet we ran away wuth the honors oy erwhelmung the classes of 1958 and 1960 ln the process the 880 yard relay team of Bull Helm Russell Chesney Walt Phullups and Ran Marshall set a new school record cluppung a full four seconds off the old one Ben Powell and Wullue Grubb were appounted fufth Form Praefects un the Sprung term Bob Seddon and Bull Helm led the lorm academucally Bull Coley Brown Daxe Hundle Ben Powell Ran Marshall and Daxe Shuelds were appounted praefects for the comung year and Wullue Grubb was chosen Scnuor Pracfect Bull Helm became Form treasurer Daxud Hundle and Shuclds were to be the South Dorm Superyusors Eruc Godshalk and Bull Helm the East Dorm superxusors Coley Brown and Hunter Harrus corrudor D superxusors and Ran Marshall and Walt Phullups corrudor B superuusors Wullue Grubb and Ben Pow ell took oy er our own corrudor When we returned thus Fall for our hnal year our number of 28 constututed the smallest Suxth Form class un recent years The hugh pount of the year was the Form Dance under the chaurmanshup of Eruc Godshalk For the thurd tume the musuc was pro vuded by Lester Lanun and hus orchestra Ben Powell ack ones Bull Helm Eruc God shalk and Bob Seddon contunued to guye the form outstandung scholarshup Sexenteeru of our members combuned theur talents to wun yarsuty letters un football and soccer whule ten of us led the wrestlung and basketball teams In conclusuon we would luke to express our gratitude to Mr Hawkuns our adyusor We hope too that as Mr Moss first Suxth Form at St Andrew s we haxe been a good one and have guven the school the leadershup expected of us by hum Twenty eught more boys graduate from the Noxontown compus but these twenty eught are partucularly umportant they are the class of 1959 ' f V f - , , ' , lim ,y ,- -.7 1 , u ' Y . 4 ' V y V1 A f 5 .'f Y V V .
