26 CLASS HISTORY The Class of 1959 entered St Andrew s un 1954 wuth sew enteen members On une suxth we well graduate seyen of them Andy Adams Duck Barron Coley Brown Grady Art Haycock Ran Marshall and Holland Van Vulkeuuburgh In our Second lorm year we were led academucally by Barron and Brown On the athletic helds we started out on sux man football and the other yunuor teams where Rm Murshall led us gettung hus numerals un baseball Our number uncreascd to 25 us we entered the South Dorm to begun the Thurcl Form year under the powers ot Gregory and Rodgers Academucally Ben Powell a new member was our leader Athletucally Andy Adams Wullue Grubb and Ben Powell be came our first letter wunners un wrestlung rennus and basebtll respectuy ely Adams um uneduately retured to the squash courts for the next three wunters Ran Marshall and um Grady shared the presudentual dutues for the year Durung the Wunter term we elected Mr Hawkuns our Form Adx usor a moye w huch has returned us many du udends un guudance and leadershup The Fourth Form Year was unarked wuth seyeral outstandung cyents as we became the first class to occupy the new wung We moy ed un un September umud plasterers car penters and clectrucuans and luyed for scxcral weeks amud theur work We too were thc furst class to be awakened each mornung by the chumes un the newly buult memorial towcr Ben Powell agaun led us wuth the books whule Wullue Grubb became our first three sport letterman wunnung letters un football basketball und tcnnus Run Marshall Hunter Harrus Chuck Dunbar Art Haycock und Coley Brown added theur names to our lust of letter wunners Art was co captaun of the soccer team Hunter Harrus and um Grady each sery ed a term as form presudent Upon arruvung on the Fufth lorm corrudor we w ere youned by Rem Barnard Russell spend an extra year at St Andrew s thus tume wuth our class because we were such a swell bunch of fellows Wullue Grubb was our presudent that year Ran Marshall was our yuce presudent Ben Powell our treasurer and Daxe Shuclds our secretary Bull Helm Bob Seddon and Walt Phullups jouned the ranks of football letter wunners whule ohn aeger and Andy Adams won theur hrst soccer letters Ben Powell was elected football captaun for 1958 and Art Haycock was elected soccer co captaun Varsuty wrestlung saw Chuck Dunbar and Walt Phullups wun letters and Ran Marshall was elected captain for 1959 Hunter Harrus and Wullue Grubb agaun won letters un basketball the latter beung chosen as captaun for the 1959 season Baseball called Coley Brown and Ben Powell to bat and Coley was elected captaun for 59 In tennus Wullue Grubb was elected captaun for the 59 season Hunter Harrus won hus first crew letter and Daye Hundle who was to youn us un our Suxth Form year was named captaun In the Sprung untramural track meet we ran away wuth the honors oy erwhelmung the classes of 1958 and 1960 ln the process the 880 yard relay team of Bull Helm Russell Chesney Walt Phullups and Ran Marshall set a new school record cluppung a full four seconds off the old one Ben Powell and Wullue Grubb were appounted fufth Form Praefects un the Sprung term Bob Seddon and Bull Helm led the lorm academucally Bull Coley Brown Daxe Hundle Ben Powell Ran Marshall and Daxe Shuelds were appounted praefects for the comung year and Wullue Grubb was chosen Scnuor Pracfect Bull Helm became Form treasurer Daxud Hundle and Shuclds were to be the South Dorm Superyusors Eruc Godshalk and Bull Helm the East Dorm superxusors Coley Brown and Hunter Harrus corrudor D superxusors and Ran Marshall and Walt Phullups corrudor B superuusors Wullue Grubb and Ben Pow ell took oy er our own corrudor When we returned thus Fall for our hnal year our number of 28 constututed the smallest Suxth Form class un recent years The hugh pount of the year was the Form Dance under the chaurmanshup of Eruc Godshalk For the thurd tume the musuc was pro vuded by Lester Lanun and hus orchestra Ben Powell ack ones Bull Helm Eruc God shalk and Bob Seddon contunued to guye the form outstandung scholarshup Sexenteeru of our members combuned theur talents to wun yarsuty letters un football and soccer whule ten of us led the wrestlung and basketball teams In conclusuon we would luke to express our gratitude to Mr Hawkuns our adyusor We hope too that as Mr Moss first Suxth Form at St Andrew s we haxe been a good one and have guven the school the leadershup expected of us by hum Twenty eught more boys graduate from the Noxontown compus but these twenty eught are partucularly umportant they are the class of 1959 ' f V f - , , ' , lim ,y ,- -.7 1 , u ' Y . 4 ' V y V1 A f 5 .'f Y V V .
