Sister Evelyn's Messa e TO THE CLASS OF 1960 OF ST. ANDREWS PRIORY For the Lord gives wirdomg from Hit mouth come knowledge and anderrtandingf' Proverb 2:6 Wisdom is not to be identified with knowledge, understanding, science or skill, but it is the guide to the knowledge and understanding of God, man and nature, Wisdom in man is the reflection of Divine Wisdomg therefore it shows itself in as many different hues and aspects as there are in- dividuals and types of individuals. It is seen as often in the sturdy common sense of the unlearned as in the great ideas expressed by the world's most profound philosophers. It is seen in the patience, effort and tactfulness of the ordinary person who in a state of emergency or disaster works selflessly to save life and to bring order out of confusion, as well as in those who advance the frontiers of knowledge to the benefit of mankind. It is re- flected in the artist, poet and musician, and also in the farmer, truckdriver and housewife. It is wisdom that guides one in every situation, exalted fsiys fvy 'WJ Sister Evelyn Ancilla, CT. or humble, major or minor, to know the right decision to make and the right thing to do. No amount of education, and no advances in scientific knowledge can make up for the lack of wisdom. Wisdom is God's gift to us, given in proportion to our need and for the work we are called to dog but to receive it we must be recep- tive to it. Since wisdom, like love, has its origin in the very nature of God, it also is a many- splendored thing . Its light refracted by many different personalities brightens this world of ours, and enlightens the way in which we should go. My. sincere wish for you at this time as you leave the influences that helped to form you in your Priory days is that your hearts and minds may be inspired by this wisdom now and always. 0 come thou Wisdom from on high Who orderert all thing: mightily: To at the path of knowledge thou: And teach as in her ways to go. Sister Evelyn Ancilla, C.'I. Sister Superior
