The pool, as in wisdom, is deep- deep in knowledge and understand- ing, because she observes, listens, and thinks in silence. She is calm be- cause her inner strength of love is far greater than the vain display of power and might. She need not seek company, for company will seek her since her portals are ever ajar to all God's creations. She is humble be- cause she realizes how very little she knows beyond her limited realm. May we through the education of spirit, mind, and body find our way to the shining brink of this pool of wisdom. Bishopgs Message . 5, The Rt. Rev. Harry S, Kennedy TO THE CLASS OF 1960 OF ST. ANDREXYWS PRIORY In Proverbs we read Happy if the man that yindeth wifdom, and the man that geteth underftandingf' We need to look to the future with wifdom and understanding, or life lofex ity meaning and pafpofe, because we fail to recognize the thingx that are noble and true. A wife perxon will not let the world crush hir idealf. I f we violate our .fpiritual nature, we pay the penalty. When you graduate from the Priory and go to col- lege, or into the bufinexx world, you will find great prexsurer upon you from many .rourcex to lower your idealf and Jtandardf, in order to be popular, or to get ahead . I urge you to hold to your ideals af you have been taught in the Priory, The important thing in life if not what happenf to you, but how you react to what happenf. You may lower your Jtand- ardf when difficultief come and think you can buy happinen at a bargain price. How- ever, no real gain or achievement goe: unpaid for. Do not neglect your Jpiritual life. Live clofe to God and you will have a Jtrength to overcome evil ,and to rerixt temptation. God will bleu your every ejort to attain true happinefs. HARRY S. KENNEDY Bishop Sister Evelyn's Messa e TO THE CLASS OF 1960 OF ST. ANDREWS PRIORY For the Lord gives wirdomg from Hit mouth come knowledge and anderrtandingf' Proverb 2:6 Wisdom is not to be identified with knowledge, understanding, science or skill, but it is the guide to the knowledge and understanding of God, man and nature, Wisdom in man is the reflection of Divine Wisdomg therefore it shows itself in as many different hues and aspects as there are in- dividuals and types of individuals. It is seen as often in the sturdy common sense of the unlearned as in the great ideas expressed by the world's most profound philosophers. It is seen in the patience, effort and tactfulness of the ordinary person who in a state of emergency or disaster works selflessly to save life and to bring order out of confusion, as well as in those who advance the frontiers of knowledge to the benefit of mankind. It is re- flected in the artist, poet and musician, and also in the farmer, truckdriver and housewife. It is wisdom that guides one in every situation, exalted fsiys fvy 'WJ Sister Evelyn Ancilla, CT. or humble, major or minor, to know the right decision to make and the right thing to do. No amount of education, and no advances in scientific knowledge can make up for the lack of wisdom. Wisdom is God's gift to us, given in proportion to our need and for the work we are called to dog but to receive it we must be recep- tive to it. Since wisdom, like love, has its origin in the very nature of God, it also is a many- splendored thing . Its light refracted by many different personalities brightens this world of ours, and enlightens the way in which we should go. My. sincere wish for you at this time as you leave the influences that helped to form you in your Priory days is that your hearts and minds may be inspired by this wisdom now and always. 0 come thou Wisdom from on high Who orderert all thing: mightily: To at the path of knowledge thou: And teach as in her ways to go. They were seen skulking around the campus behind their cameras to take candicls of students, caught un- aware in their most casual form. Their keen eyes and quick shutter fingers have captured many memorable events. During November the members sold lusci- ous orange chiffon cakes to finance the club's projects. Their diligent efforts were well-re- warded by an unforgettable trip to Sacred Falls. The Camera Club's annual banquet was held at M's Ranch House where they had their fill of juicy morsels of steak. The dinner was high- lighted by color slides of Kauai taken by Miss Thelma Warner, a professional photographer. In February, the Latin Clubbers held a sweet bread sale, which brought an overwhelming profit to the club and helped to finance the annual Latin Banquet. The long-awaited banquet was held on the night of May 7 in Queen Emma Hall. Strains of traditional Latin songs resounded in the cor- ridors, while within the hall Latin Club mem- bers wearing the togas of ancient Rome feasted and made merry, served by hapless slaves, first- year Latin students. A play depicting Roman life and culture was presented. In October the sophomores with their characteristic vivacity enjoyed their first Student Body Dance. In late December, the girls again took time out for fun at a dinner-dance sponsored by the sophomore class of Iolani. During the Christmas season, they participated whole- heartedly in three service projects: collecting canned juices for the needy, sorting and delivering Christmas cards to the various classes, and sending candy and gifts to the children of St. Anthony's Home. The month of January brought the responsibility of plan- ning for the class dance held on the twenty-third. A Lenten project followed in March.
