We faltered, waited for we knew not what from this infant year . . . we waited for the imprint St. Andrews would make on our lives . . . for it to show us ourselves . . . different from all others, we were one thing to those whom we met on the causewalk . . . and many contra- dictory things to our inmost selves. . . . Our place at St. Andrews . . . scholar? . . . snack-bar sitter? . . . student leader? . . . dependable follower? . . . unconcerned rock-thrower? . . . have we found it? . . . does the search for ourselves begin, continue, or end with St. Andrews?
