As one walks about the campus at Presbyterian Junior Col- lege, he soon becomes aware of the beautiful pine trees. Some are tall and stately, some are short and stubby and grow in groves, some cluster together in twos and threes. They help to remind us that great men down through the ages have turned to nature as a source of inspiration and meditation. Thus, the seeds of our learning have taken deep root in the comfortable natural setting of our college. Not only does a true liberal education imply getting close to nature, but getting close to nature implies getting closer to God. We feel that the most important part of our educa- tion ar Presbyterian junior College is its Christian character, that the spirit as well as the mind must be imbued with the ultimate principles of reality. We have shared as students a mutual grow- ing up-in mind, in body, and in spirit. The editors and staff of the l958 Bagpipe hope that our annual will be a lasting remem- brance of this once-in-a-lifetime college experience. We hope that the pictures and vignettes of pine trees found throughout the annual will serve as a symbol of this experience.
