Sainte The Saints of '46-'47 first started to develop back in '42-'45 when Bob Kertz began his basketball career The inexperienced Saints suffered a disastrous season that year winning only 2 of 22 games The next season, '45-'44, the Saints added John Groff, Tom Voz, Francis Moisse, and Mark Fetsch. They also added a few more victories winning 9 of 22 games After gaining a little more experience the Saints won ll of 22 games and came fourth in the District Tournament after upsetting a highly favored Michigan team. of '44-'45 Last year Bernard Koehmstedt was added to the team Bernard was just what the team needed. They now had an experienced and well balanced team. The '45-'46 season treated the Saints rather well. They won 18 of 26 games Paul' Baldwin, Emil Lorenz, and Stan Urlaub were added to the Saints' reserve roster This year in '46-'47 the boys from St. Alphonsus reached top form. Although they suffered an upset defeat in the most important game of the season they won 22 of their 27 games. The '46-'47 Saints took Second in the County Tgurnament and Second in the newly formed North East Conference. Six men wore their suits for the last time this year. They are: Francis Moisse, Bernard Koehmstedt, Bob Kertz, Mark Fetsch, Paul Baldwin and Emil Lorenz Vincent Marcotte was added to the reserve squad thisyear and will be with next year's team PEP SQUAD 1946 '47 The students of S A S met September 20, for the purpose of electing cheer leaders Marilyn Lorenz was chosen from a numbBr of nominees Besides Marilyn, Geneva Backes, and Jane Donovan headed the Pep Squad again this year The Pep Squad proved themselves worthy of their appointment in cheering the Wsaintsm on to victory Q., . Bob was known S 2 S ' X for his coolness and aptness on either offense or defense. Kertz Nu S S was named on the All-County and All-District teams this year. 5 :I N ' MARK FETSCH, dependable sixth man for squad this year is also a Senior.
