V UNT ACYL 1: H RH YR lxl Y N X MSHRINI' As we, the seventy-fifth graduating class of Saint Agnes Seminary, leave its sacred halls to follow our chosen careers, we pause for the last time before the beloved statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and utter a final prayer to the Mother of Mankind, who guarded, guided and consoled us during our high school days. We realize that we are not the first nor will we be the last class to stop before Our Lady, for since the beginning of our Alma Mater on Sackett Street, Our Blessed Mother has held a prom- inent place on the grounds. Even after the new school moved to Union Street and later to its present site, Our Lady remained as the Protec- toress of our school because it was her strong and never wearied love that encouraged the Sisters to establish the firm foundations of our school. Looking back over the last four years we re- call the prayers offered each morning at the shrine. Sometimes they were brief but always they pleaded for Our Heavenly Mother's care. We, the Clan of 1954, coniecrate onr yearbook to oar Bleirecl Mother, the Cryital Fountain of Faith, Fragrant Lily of All Holineii, Conqnereri of Evil and i Qneen of the Uninerre, in tloir the One Hnnafretlrv Year l of tloe Proclamation of the Dogma of Her Immaculate Conception. In the afternoon, again we stopped to say good- bye and many times to seek her advice. We will always remember, too, that it was here at St. Agnes under the guidance of the Sisters of Saint joseph that we learned by Our Lady's example the principles that will govern our future life and help us attain eternal salvation. To passers-by Our Lady smiles lovingly, to the faculty she gives zeal and encouragement for each new day, to the Semites she is a model of humility, purity and perfection, to us, the Class of 1954, Our Mother gave her love, her example, her counsel and understanding and most of all, her only Son. As we bid our fond farewell we stand before Our Lady's statue to offer this our prayer: Our Blessed Mother, continue to be our guardian through life. May you always remain our con- solation in suffering, our refuge from worldly temptations, safeguard of our purity and most of all our model of Christian womanhood.
