Miss Evelvn Johnson as Miss Saint Agnes, very angelic' looking in her nurse's uniform antl cape, was eseortetl to her throne hy her three larlies-in-waiting, Misses Mary M'iggins, Katherine Lowe and Vhristahelle Bragg, walking on a white earpet. Two lll11lblllilllC'QS we1'e eolorfully tleeoratetl with the school eolors, hlue anal white, whieh earrietl several of the nurses who partieipatetl in the Honieeoining Paratle. Miss Saint Agnes and attendants rotle in a ear also decorated with Howing hlue-and- white paper. The parade began at eleven o'c-lock in the morning on Xoveniber 9, 1940, on Saint .Xugustine's campus. going up Tarboro Street to Fayetteville Street, the heart of the city. There were alnlwoxiniately seventy ears, all deeoratc-tl, with several floats from Saint Augus- tine's with Miss Saint Augustine and her attendants oeeupying one. The Gangs All Here, while the Crowfl sang. The ganie was resunietl, with Saint Paul's winning. The elinlax eanie when the Varsity gave a clanee in the evening, and it was thoroughly enjoyetl. Those leetures und meetings were very intellevtuall and inspiring To us as student nurses. The I'xl'PNllILlElll Vluss sponsored an very interesting p1'ejert whirh was the hi1'tl1day party occur- ring monthly, in honor of eau-h nnrse's lvirthduy. The next projevt that the 1-lass ventured to put forth was tl1e l'tlfllll1fJ.' of 21 bottle of Cider at tl lI:1llowe'en purty given in the Nurses' Home. Une of the most exeiting events that ow-uui-reul during the mouth was the Homecoming parade sponsored by Saint Augustine-'s College. Miss Saint Agnes had as her attendants several freshmen. Another memorable event in the history of the Freshman Class wus on Ile:-emher 221. when we ref-eired the sap of the svllool, at :in elahorzlte Cupping exercise. the Iirst in the history of Saint Agnes. The tirst semester ended J2lIlll2ll'Y. 1941. Mid-term examinations for the freshmen were territiv. The tirst seven nurses reeeived their striped uniforms on Felv1'l12ll'5' 1- While T119 f'Y11f'1'S 1'9f'f'iWd the-ir's an inouth later. This marked the end of tl1e preliminairy period.
