Hockey: Close Again Starting out slow by losing their first four conference games the St. Agnes Hockey Team ended up finishing a strong fifth in the C.C.C. The season began with high ex- pectations, partly because of the success of the football team, but the Aggs had a hard time winning the close ones. They lost a total of seven games by one goal. The outstanding goal-tend- ing of Mike McCullough and the potent line of Pat Mc- Laughlin, Steve Fuerst, and Pete Saiko led the skaters through the season. Though disappointed by the losses the team managed to come awfully close to upset tourna- ment teams like Hill, Benilde, Breck and Brady. The losses were hard to take but the team kept coming back only to lose a heartbreaker in the regional game to Brady 3-2. The 1972-73 St. Agnes Hock- ey Team, led by co-captains Terry Novaczyk and Dean Coc- chiarella, will be out to im- prove the 9-16 record of this year but also to do what the last two hockey teams have come so close to doing: playing in the State Hockey Tournament. Steve Fuerst sets up a picture-perfect goal by Pete Saiko. St. Agnes' leading scorer Pat McLaughlin pressures Cretin with help from Pete Saiko llO
