pedal Every Day 6, the last 4 mods of the day, St. Agnes students have a break from the routine of classes by means ot the assembly period. Various cultur- al and educational acts are brought to the stage of our auditorium. This year, the student body was an enthusiastic audience for Arthur Mil- ler's Death of a Salesman, pre- sented by the National Theatre Com- pany. Representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties presented their platforms before the local elec- tions. An open assembly sponsored by the Student Council brought in Yoga experts l3l, a ski instructor lll, iudo student, charm consultants, with each student attending the subject that most interested her. Miss Louise Hickey performed The Barretts of Wimpole Street, delight- ing the student body again with her limitless variety of expressions and characters. Sr. Mary Anne l6l from Brazil and Sr. Marie Albert l5l from the Selma mission presented slides and an explanation of what the missions are accomplishing. A representative of the Committee of Responsibility l4l made the stu- dents of St. Agnes aware of the plight of young war victims and the students responded by donating over S900 to COR. Dr. Michael LaCombe l2l pre- pared a questionnaire on drugs and their use among St. Agnes students and presented the results to the par- ents as well as the students. Even mini-guests l7l were on the agenda for the Child Development class. 145

' ki From January 14 until January 26, St. Agnes High School was once again in the grip of that peculiar hysteria, the Magazine Drive. Formerly sensible, law-abiding members of the student body succumbed to screaming, shriek- ing and general carrying on at that assembly known affectionately to all of us as the The Zoo, formally the official beginning of the drive. For the next week or so, guerilla warfare tactics enter all phases of St. Agnes life. The class to knock over the most innocent bystanders in the race to put up posters considers itself victorious in that category. The class that can be heard all over the school land some iuniors claim to have made their cheers vibrate clearly through Gene- see Valley Parkl also receives grudg- ing admiration. But these are only second best to the magazine selling tactics employed by our young ladies. No door is left un-knocked upon, no potential custo- mer is left unaccosted by our eager saleswomen. The payoff comes at the closing assembly, known to be un- believable, when one class lthis year the Mickey Mouse Seniorsl receives first prize and a week's supply of laryngitis. The whole school, -for their efforts, receives the state wide first prize. Mascots and dwarfs vow to solve Pinocchio's prob- was g lem. The real solution comes with top salesmen like Sue Bruckel and Sue Foos. Snowwhite, Michele Szembrot, co-chairman lsecond from rightly Pinocchio, linda Butz, Business Chair- man, Iead the dwarfs and mascots in a chorus line and in the Magazine Drive spirit. Co-chairman Pat Dynski as Jiminey Cricket gives Mr. Hull, Readers' Digest representative, the all important results to announce.
