Sr. Anne Virginia Nancy Domiano Jill Helfrich DcamaCCu6 The auditorium is deathly quiet. The clock clicks in the solemn stillness. Suddenly the doors fly open and girls stumble down the dark aisles, laughing at their own clumsiness. Soon lights are turned on and everyone is now seated and listening to their moderator, Sr. Virginia Hogan, who is telling the members of the Drama Club about auditions for the Christmas Play, The Gift of Tenyin. The Drama Club is always busy plan- ning activities. Their spring play Bright Girl under the direction of Mr. Andia was a big success. If you believe in stars and if you believe in trying, then maybe Drama Club is something for you to believe in-it has its own kind of stars. 6 t T T wk A Michele Sural Sr. Alice McLaughlin Marilee Dummer, Laurie Brongo 140

F The new voices of the school - learning the voice exercises for the first time - deciding which section to Sing - electing offi- cers. Under the guidance of Sr. Virginia Hogan, the young voices learn to produce a variety of tones from deep and dark to the highest delicate soprano note. The first song looks unconquer- able, but by patient practice of each part, the finished product tits together in harmonious agree- ment. At the Christmas concert the Freshman Chorus makes its first public appearance, finishing up the year at the Spring Concert. 4leeClu6 What's that sound? lt's loud then soft . . . soft then loud. If you listen very carefully you will rec- ognize the voices of the St. Agnes Glee Club practicing warm up exercises and learning new songs under the direction of Sr. Virginia Hogan. Many hours are spent in a week for these girls who prac- tice over and over again, blend- ing their voices together to produce some special songs. Through all the practicing, the result comes in the form of sev- eral performances-the Christmas and Spring concerts here, and participation in those at Mercy and Rush-Henrietta. The Glee Club also prepares and presents a musical each fall - this year bringing Love From Judy to the St. Agnes stage. ln May, the Glee Club brings their talent to a test at the New York State Aiudication, a difficult competi- tion that iudges a group on every dynamic and note of a song. Through all of these activities comes a strong unity which is formed by the sharing of pleasure and work.. . and it is most visible when you see them under the stage lights, working together, singing together - and smiling together. 139
