WE, the ambitious Class of 1937 of St. Agnes High School, situated in Springfield in the State of Missouri, being of sound body and or as sane mind as possible after much laboring for four years, do this fifteenth day of May make this last Testament willing to those students who are to come after us the fol- lowing scholastic possessions. FIRST ITEM: To the Faculty we bequeath our appreciation of their time spent to equip us with sufficient knowledge to help us to meet and to overcome the difficulties of our future life. SECOND ITEM: To the school we leave our- selves, the Alumni, the first of St. Agnes. glass Qrophecy New York, New York May 14, 1947 Dear Monsignor Hally: How very proud I am today that I was one of the ten seniors who composed the first graduating class of Saint Agnes High School a decade ago. Who would have visioned on the street where the white frame building stood, the largest Catholic educational institution in Springfield 7 I am now a traveling reporter for the women's section of the Times magazine here in New York. VVhile on a survey, from which I just returned, I met the other nine 1937 graduates. I am sure you will be interested to know what lines of work each took up: therefore, I shall hurriedly give you a short account of my knowledge of them. Harry Gabriel and Louis Lindberg successfully completed their trans-continental flight in an incredible record-breaking time. These two always appeared to have high ambitions, and no doubt they thought the sky was the place to put their desires to work. In a recent letter from Marie Wissbaum she men- tions that she has accepted the position to head the English department in the Hardin College in Texas. With Marie at the helm, the students of Hardin College should capture many first prizes in the writing contests throughout the country. Monsignor, imagine my surprise when I saw Lois Parker graduated with high honors last week from the Missouri Law School! I remember how Lois wanted to talk and argue everything out to the point where all con- cerned we1'e satisfied. She has been offered a splendid position in a large law firm in Chicago where I am sure she will succeed. Lois wanted me to stay a few days with
