Only through the wholehearted willing cooperation of each unit can there be strength, progress and a realization of the ideal. The lighthouse brings out the Dying on the Cross, Our Lord gave to the world a new mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Per Mariam Ad Je-sum is the motto of the Marists and of their students. Every good work, all efforts and each sign of progress are consecrated to her. Through Mary we touch eternity, we reach unto God, our Father. three adult forces whose example stands as a dauntless force against the storms of life. lt's beaming light shows the way like the brilliant beacon of wise counsel. Dedicated to fulfilling the awe- some responsibility of educating a child, the parent exerts every judi- cious effort to provide his son with whatever will lead him to happi- ness, here and hereafter. -xw, ,Q vs, ,, .7,f'5LTV?.' ' xxx' J .- LF ',,y.: Q -1 ,- In every phase of his life, the student is encouraged and guided by his parents. The parents sacrifice time, talent and money for the complete education of their son. In religion, the students wiLh the service of devoted priests realize the all-important backbone of Catholic School education. Together they follow the way of Christ. Teacher and parent confer regularly to resolve the difhculties of the student. They consider his progress or his failures, the better to undestand their charge and give him the necessary guidance. Thus, each completes his port of the triangle . . . the union . . . the cooperation. -21:12:12: if f 2: .553 'fZEEEQ,i EE' A ..,.. ., L u ill' S..t:-A--1.3 Q.. The student tries to master and absorb his separate subjects during class hours and afterwards in his private study. He attempts to discover and ferret out the truthg he tests it by the yard- stick of established principles and once satisfied he takes hold of it to strengthen his convictions. fmt'-EQ! I was ushered into junior year by a big, tall Southerner, Brother Ignatius. The other juniors once again had Brother Denis. I found the new Brothers had some new and startling methods ot teaching. I suddenly became very word cone scious and it was not unusual to find me tearing up news- papers during study period hunting tor vocab research words. I found that the majority ot the class had decreed that certain subjects were perfect tor eating lunch. The teachers agreed, and set up a cover charge of 50C for all dinners. Soon it was discovered that it was cheaper to eat during lunch time. Brother Denis again took the Field Day Championship with his 3A class. Meanwhile in 3B, a class paper was being born, which would soon lead to the rebirth of the Stag . MacNarnara made basketball history for Saint Agnes, and the entire school basked in his reflected glory. This was the year also when George Wright won the S'IO0,000 prize on TV. Intra-mural softball was experimented with, and proved a huge success. Trophies were gg oftered to both divisions and medals in each event. ,Q Undoubtedly this had much to do with the large turnout for track, with the team maintaining about forty-five members. This season found the Agnesians engaged in Cross 3 F Q Country competition adding a new field of activity K over previous years when the team participated only A in Indoor and Outdoor meets. The Cindermen, led T. j. X., fig, on by John Fisher, Captaing participated in all the C.H.S.A.A. meets as well as many of the school- sponsored meets. Thus track participation increased considerably. One of the outstanding results of the season was the enthusiasm and fighting spirit of all members as they drilled and worked out so faithfully to win for St Agnes some token of their hard earned efforts .A I 2-' Y I - l if fwfvf... - ,wa .,,gp.
