AGNES ACADEMY N .,,,,-up C ONVENT May 24, 1953 My dear Parents, Taking advantage of this excellent opportunity, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the priceless Catholic education you have made possible for me during my years at St. Agnes. While attending school, I didn't realize the importance of the high ideals and standards set before meg but now as a graduate I begin to recognize the value of what you have given me. At the beginning of my school days I was a mere child, but now I have reached womanhood, fully prepared to fulfill my purpose in life. This of course could not be. had it not been for your perpetual love and boundless generosity. It is only now that I begin to appreciate the struggles and the sacrifices you must have made in order to give me the advantages of an education such as I have had. I realize more and more each day that some of the girls among my acquaintances have not had instilled in them the same philosophy of life I have. I feel I am now prepared to meet with the joys and disappointments in the future and accept the responsibilities that come my way. I can never thank you enough, Mother and Daddy, for whatyou have done for me. I shall never be able to repay you here but my prayer is that in heaven God will thank you in a way that I cannot. Tuckahoe, Oklahoma May 28, 1963 Dear Sister Burcharda, After spending my entire day trying to teach my youngest son, Buddy, art of kicking field goals, I decided to gather my brains together and write a few lines to let you know about the Seniors of '53, Elizabeth Pinckney, renowned scientist, has discovered a way to duplicate Mary Jane Heckle 's laugh, This is a great accomplishment, as we tried and failed to do so during our days at S, A, A, Seen at distinguished places all over the world is the famous com- panion and secretary of Liz, Mary Donahue, They are quite a pair, Our senior class president, Amelia Domangue, is very happy with her mechanical engineer husband and they have twelve young mechanics already, Barbara Faquin and Ann Lee entered the convent of the Poor Clares, We all knew they would because they were always so quiet and their halos shone bright at all times, Tootsie Lucchesi is still saving and scrimping to pay the debts we acquired getting out the '53 Aquila, Every Christmas we remember her and send a contribution, Grace Gavin has so many men around she decided to share them with all the other girls, thus she opened a lonely heart clinic, She recently sold half the business to her good friends, Ann Weir and Ginger Bonner, Still at Memphis State and not just for educational purposes is Beverly Morgan, Catherine Hart is now living in Duluth, Minnesota and reports that she is getting along very well, Maryville must have done worlds for her! The chief Latin interpreter for the Pope was announced recently as Joan Stalm, It seems Sister Elise has performed a miracle. Tommy Bowden and Kay Martineau are the owners of an exclusive hat shop, Ellen's Three Little Sisters. A great new dance team is hitting the high spots of the United States and England, Sister you'll be surprised to hear that Lucy Mascari and Lillian Heffernan comprise this team. I recently caught their act at Ciro's, Their ballet is superb, Carroll Gregory is the wife of the '63 King of the Cotton Carnival, Carroll was very upset when the barge sank. Bill got all wet and caught a cold. Ann Marie Fachini is doing quite well as owner of Campbell's Clinic, She felt she was there so long it would be cheaper to buy it, Thelma Marquette, a major- in the Wacs, has yet to catch up with her five star general husband, Jo Ann Zanone and Betty Perrell are happily married and each the mother of five girls, They are now residing in Memphis with all their little darlings attending St. Agnes. Naturally, Can you imagine five little Jo Anns' and five little Bettys' in St. Agnes at the same time? Shirley Mariano now owns the Leachie Cigarette Corporation, Margaret Rose CaPece is her official tester, The whole class of '53 nied hard for that job. Lucky Margaret! I Patsy Boywid's husband, Ed, is now running for governor of Tennessee, Patsy is a regular mountain gal during her campaigning trips through the hills of Tennessee, By the way, maybe you're heard Ed's new record of the Tennessee Waltz. Sister, as much as I hate to close this letter I must do so. I am leaving for Texas as soon as Buddy comes home and I must be ready to go, I leave you now with all the memories of the seniors of '53, Sincerely, Mrs, Carolyn Leake 1 W WM -24 1955 pnguun. , mem M4112 , N' H .v up-an 14.1453171911 5 ' ' CLASS WILL We, the class of 1953, Saint Agnes Academy, Memphis, Tennessee, assuming that we are of sound mind and in full possession of our senses, do hereby declare and publish this our last will and testament in manner and form as follows: Carroll Lee and Amelia Donati leave their cars to anyone lucky enough to leave on an errand during school time, Ioan Stalm leaves her ability to play basketball to Pat Grasmick, Mary Jane Heckle leaves her democratic ideas to Jerry Phillips, Ann Weir leaves her knowledge of Espanol to Babs Brennan and we hope she'll know what to do with it, Ginger Bonner leaves her dignified manner to Elaine Altherr. Tommye Clare Scruggs leaves her eyelash curlers to Margaret Schaefgen, Liz Pinckney leaves her Chemistry formulas to Pat McDonald, Shirley Mariano leaves her horse to Sister Elise, Patsy Hardwick is leaving everything except Ed, Margaret Rose leaves the spirit of Catholic High to Rose Ann Schultz, Tootsie Lucchesi leaves all her dates to be divided evenly among the entire junior class, Anne Lee leaves her poise and charm to Mary Ann Borger and Myrna Sanderson, Catherine Heuertz leaves her quiet and conservative manner to Kay 'Dixon. Barbara Jean Faquin leaves her halo, harp and wings to Phylis Harvey, as if she had none, Lucy Mascari leaves her pajamas to anybody who has a pair of shoulder pads to wear with them, Mary Donahue and Betty Creel leave their sweet and obliging ways to Rose Marie Pacini, Beverly Qlegsj Morgan leaves her hair rinse to Flo Clark, Grace Gavin leaves her superb knowledge of horsemanship to Nell Pidgeon. Thelma Remmers leaves her bang-up personality to George Ann Purvis and Pat Adair Io Ann Wade leaves her glasses to Frances Robilio and anyone else who is blind, Ann Marie Fachini leaves her virtue of patience to Mary Sue White, Kay Cooke leaves!
