RIGHT REVEREND MONSIGNOR FRANCIS J. KELLER Francis J. Keller was born October 23, 1880 in Mindelheim, Bavaria. As a lad of six he came to America and made his home in Louisville, Kentucky. In response to the call of the Divine Master; Come, follow Me, and I will make you a fisher of men, he entered Pontifical College Josephinum in 1895, at Columbus, Ohio. Bishop James J. Hartley of Columbus, Ohio, ordained him a Priest of Jesus Christ June 16, 1907, for the Diocese of Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1917, Father Keller was accepted into the Diocese of Grand Island, Nebraska, to serve as secretary to the bishop and Chancellor of the Diocese. In 1918, he was made the first pastor of Chappell, Nebraska, where he served for seven years. During his next appointment to Anselmo, Nebraska, which continued from 1925 to 1942, he built a magnificent church. He served at Ogallala, Nebraska, for eight years, from 1942 to 1950. Then he was appointed chaplain at St. Joseph's Hos- pital here in Alliance, Nebraska. Prior to his service here, he received the honor of Domestic Prelate, thus gaining the title of Right Reverend Monsignor Keller. This honor was conferred upon him in 1949. Right Reverend Monsignor Keller was appointed Pastor of Holy Rosary Parish in Alliance, Nebraska, June 1, 1954. During these past years Monsignor Keller has been our priest, our teacher, and our friend. We are proud to dedicate our '61 Crusader to Monsignor Keller.
