Text from Pages 1 - 84 of the 1955 volume:

Dedication As sons of a royal Father, as princes of a royal household, as members of a kingly priest- hood , we seek to actualize ROYALTY in our lives. There- fore, the Seniors of 1955 ded- icate this CRUSADER to the personification of royalty, our newly acclaimed Queen of the Universe . . . Mary, our Queen and our Mother. CONSECRATION CEREMONIES On October 6, 1954, the Seniors added to Mary's realm by consecrating themselves to the Immaculate Heart of their Queen. The CRUSADER St. rfftet rfocuU-uf AUianct, Tleifteufa, Leading the Royal Forces REV. FREDERICK SNYDER Our school Chaplain, and instructor in Religion, ranks high in our es- teem. Besides the help that Father Snyder has been to us spiritually, we know that we can count on him as a friend in every need. He is a welcome support to his co-workeis, and has become all things to all boys, as far as the athletic pro- gram is concerned. To Father Snyder, too, we owe a debt of gratitude that calls for long remembrance. RT. REV. MONSIGNOR F.J. KELLER A wise, enlightened leader is our Monsignor. As pastor, confessor, and instructor, he is a real inspir- ation to us. His presence among us is one of the grateful and pleas- ant memories of St Agnes that we shall always cherish. As we prepare to leave our school days behind, we pledge anew our loyalty to the ideals he always per- sonified. We hope to express our gratitude in a lifelong loyalty to our parish, and to the Faith that his example has helped to make a living Faith. OUR PRINCIPAL Mother M. Virginia, O.S.F. Yours is the big job of planning, supervising, managing. This job you have combined smoothly with the still more important work of leaving upon us the mark of Franciscan Catholic educa- tion and culture. It goes without saying that we have felt the impact. We thank you, Mother Virginia, for all the advice, help, and the occasional prodding you have given us during our wonderful years at St. Agnes. We thank you, too, for being, like the Troubadour of Assissi, a model to admire and imi- tate . You have made our journey, thus far, along the King's Highway, a happy one. Because St. Agnes owes so much to you, we pray that our school may con- tinue to prosper under your guidance. Directing Us Along The Royal Highway OUR FRANCISCAN GUIDES O St. Francis, you are with us On the Highway to our God; For your brown robed daughters lead us On the royal road you trod. Triple knots in cord Franciscan Represent your way of life. All our Sisters walk your foot- steps Free from earthly pelf and strife. They are helping us make ready For the Courts of Heaven above. Look then, kindly down upon US', As we seek Eternal love. Guide us safely, lest we roam, To our Dream House, Heaven's Home. - Mary Helen Kennedy OUT Faculty tyuanci ¥ y ux% 'll ‘RoyxC ycvit SISTER M. EMILY Our FIRST tiny steps along the royal road of Catholic Education were directed by Sister M. Emily, who still exerts a wel- come influence by her work in the Music Department. SISTER M. ANTONELLA Not a stranger at St. Agnes, Sister under- took to guide us through our LAST year of school. She expects great things of us in the years that lie ahead, and we hope not to disappoint her. SISTER M. ELECTA Our capable, kindly, and efficient librar- ian, Sister Electa, can be found teaching Math and History classes, as well as dir- ecting both speech and dramatic projects. SISTER M. SPES Sister Spes is polishing and buffing the class that is to follow us as the graduates of 1956. Sister is kept busy with Junior Religion, two English classes, and Shorthand. Sister also takes a lively interest in our choirs Sponsored by: GANTZ, WILLIAMS, and HEIN SISTER M. FIDES Sister Fides, with wide experience in the field of Science, directs our ex- perimentation in Bilogy and in Chemistry. Sister is sponsor for the Sophomores, in and out of school. MR. LOUIS WEWEL Two years of army life; a college edu- cation at St. Benedict’s, Atchison, Kansas; and several years of business experience, have given a well rounded background to our social studies teacher and respected coach, Mr. Lou Wewel. SISTER MARY GEORGE Heading our Commercial Department is our skilled and exact Sister George. Besides managing both men and ma- chines , Sister also directs the destinies of the Freshmen. MRS. LOWELL E. FINECY Trained at Wesleyan University, with a major in Music, Mrs. Finecy is vocal and instrumental instructor. Having previously been music instructor in several other high schools, Mrs. Finecy came to us rich in experience. —7— milestone on the royal hiy ia ay Si ter M.
