His fine school spirit has done much to make all our activities most successful ami although his cheerful manner and resonant nice keep the corridor in an uproar, he takes his studies seriously as his scholastic record shows. He is one of the hest dressed men in the school putting aside his rancher's outfit, however, with reluctance. He plans to exchange it permanently in the future for that of a doctor. NELDA BOYCE Nelda is a senior ut S.A.A. whom everyone likes because of her friendliness and sincer- ity. Cooperative, efficient and energetic she is alwavs there where something is to he done. Tlfse qualities combined with that of leadership won for her the responsible po- sition of president of the senior class. We all extend to her our best wishes for sue- «o and happiness in her chosen career a medical doctor. CHARLES WETZLER This livewire of the senior class came to us from Colorado when in the fifth grade and we have enjoyed his kind, easy-going ways ever since. Though never in a hurry, he manages to keep just inside the mark. He has been very active in athletics and has received s veral awards for football and basketball work. He is a very genial and popular secretary of our senior class. JOAN MANNING When Irish eyes are smiling in the senior room, they arc usually those of Red Man- ning our youngest senior. With her mis- chievous smile, spontaneous laughter and sparkling charm, we find her the life of the party. Top honors go to Red for school spirit and enthusiastic cheerleading both of which won for her the title—FOOI BALI. QUEEN. SALLY NEWBERRY With a smile as winsome as her hair is ru Iv. Sally makes a photographer's task an easy one. H-rr interests are many but she de- votes most of her time to singing and listening to operas. Her beautiful voice has won for her leading roles in the school op-r- ettas and a superior rating at the Music Contest. • • • tVhen cL ear K Seniors MARY BAUMAN The “Bauman Twins’ a familiar tune that has been ringing up and down the corridors of St. Agnes for the past thirteen years. These identicals are inseparable and where you sec the one you see the other. However, we are very glad they came in a pair for their kindly, cheerful wit and winsome man- ner have brightened many an hour. Plenty of initiative and plenty of vim that's the twins. MARTHA BAUMAN I DOROTHY KING MARIANNE BRENNAN MARY HELEN STEWART LEONA WALTERS She came to us in her junior year and quickly made her way to the top in popularity. Her beautiful voice, spark- ling smile and personal magnetism has gained for her a lasting place in the hearts of all gnesians. She has de- veloped a fine school spirit and we know that next to Wyoming St. Agnes will always be one of her favorite haunts. Marianne has shared with us the joys and tribulations of St. Agnes since kindergarten days. She is a girl of Irish wit and laughing eyes always b-ieht ami cheerful and just the kill' of friend one is always eager and proud to have. In the future she plans to take up nursing and we are certain that she will cheer many pa- tients with her winning ways. “Bctter-late-than-ncver Stewart we call this little, plump, Irish lass who was born in sunny California, lived in Colorado until she was thirteen and then came to Nebraska and St. Agnes. Mary Helen is small but mighty and makes a welcome addition to any crowd. II 're is a vivacious blonde who hails f,om Hcmin :ford and who carries top honors in her class. “Onie” is fa- mous for her captivating smile, friend- ly manner and accordion playing. She was our sophomore president and as our present Sodality Prefect can al- ways be depended upon to boost class activities. In her future profession as teacher we know that she will be a grand success. • • • JOSEPH HILL DOROTHY McGINLEY MARGARET SNEDEKER MYRTLE WHITE Joe. best known for his frankness ami his ready answers, is mischievous at times hut always reliable. His ability as a radio announcer is widely known and highly praised. Joe’s future plans are somewhat uncertain but do in- clude several years of military train- ing and in this his grim determination will be an advantage. Hack in ’37 when we young ladies first entered St. Agnes, a blonde, bow- legged damsel hailing from a ranch near Lisco, entered too, and began her long trek along the educational road with us. Since then “DortV bow- legs have straightened admirably well although horseback riding continues her favorite pastime. Her flair for clothes, her cute smile and winning personality have made her many friends who see a colorful career in the offing for Dorothy. Margaret, better known as “Sned,” is another lass who has completed her entire school life from primary to sen- ior here at St. Agnes. During her high school days she has eagerly par- ticipated in all activities and has done her utmost to help toward their suc- cess. Her pleasant smile and cheery ‘’hello” should be an asset to the business world which she hopes to conquer. M “Myrt. as she is called by her crowd, is musical, gay and full of school spirit. As secretary of our junior class, her loyalty and enthusiasm were put to the test and not found want- ing. For a girl she has terrific “drive” and uses it well at both piano playing and horseback riding. Although she has lived on a ranch all her life she plans to take up business in the future. PATRICIA COUPENS Fat, one of the 19 ers, has completed her entire school course her-' at S.A.A. This future nurse and collec- tor of salt and pepper shakers seven- ty-eight from every state likes to swim and dance and is very enthusiastic about all school affairs. She is very determined in ideas and manages to finish all that she begins. Proud of her ”big freckles and twinkling eyes. Patricia is a very likeable and loyal friend. MONICA GREEN Another twin but very unlike her coun- terpart this gav brunette has a smile for one and all. Silence is not one of her strong points but a willing helpfulness is. Her jovial r haraet ” is a great “uplift” and makes us glad to have her around especially when her witty remarks are on the wing. As a future teacher we wish her Mir- ccss. VERONICA GREEN Monica’s blonde second has a smile, also for everyone. These twins came to St. Agnes from Anselmo for their sophomore voar and quickly made themselves ardent Agnesians. Veronica loves to cook and dance but her great- °st ambition right now is to attend the State Teachers’ College at Kearney ind prepare for her teaching profes- sion. NINA GARCIA Nina, one of the most likeable girls in our class, wears a perpetual snide which she flashes around all the while. Her quiet manner and soft voice con- ceal tremendous worth and wc know that Nina will make a cheery home for someone. Her favorite enjoyment is listening to the radio and her plan for the future include extensive travel- ing. • • • Who ave MARGARET WETZLER Mursa ret has attended St. Agne lor the past nine years Coming here from Fort Collins. Colorado. Scattering hap- piness as she does makes her welcome in all groups and any undertaking finds her ready to share in the work and in the fun. Sports and the out- doors attract her and there she spends as much time as possible at either work or at play. GRETCHEN GERDES Student, typist and friend, Crctchen «Iocs well all that she attempts. Brown eyes and blonde she adds a dainty touch to our senior picture as she goes her quiet way with poise and dignity. College is included in her fu- ture plans after which she intends to use her congeniality to best advan- tage in the business world. AGNES VINTON She quietly entered St. Agnes in her sophomore year and in all things is out to win. Ag‘s willingness and geniality have helped to brighten the many ac- tivities of our class. Her favorite hobbies range from dancing to horse- back riding. Her ambition for suc- cess in all she undertakes will help her in her future work of nursing. PATRICIA CONNELLY Patty, the smallest member of the sen- ior class, hails from the gay life of “Dalton. Those who know her best say that her quiet manner is just a classroom application and that mis- chief and energy can be included in her list of characteristics. She is verv determined in her ideals to make a good nurse. BERNICE STEC Bernice is proud to say that she is the only one in the senior class from that beautiful town of I.ong Pine. Ne- braska. We add that if Long Pine has any more like this little girl with the big heart we hope it will send them on to St. Agnes for they are as- sets which any class is happy to claim. Quiet and helpful she promises her fu- ture employer a capable and earnest worker. BONNIE DELSING Bonnie with the «lancing brown eyes and captivating smile came to St. Agnes in 1945 from Hemingford. An- other petite Miss who goes along her easy wav without worry but she al- ways seems to accomplish her aim. Shv and reserved to strangers she is a helpful friend whose future plans in- clude the telephone office, switch board and ear phones. JOSEPH MOELLER Joe whose main interests lie in physics and math is a perfect type of unself- ishness, honesty and generosity. A man who is always willing to lend a helping hand he will go down in class history as the most accommo- dating student of 49. Combine all this with intelligence and you have what it takes, so when you want to know ask—Joe. KATHERINE PHILLIPS Kathy is a very pleasant gale who came into St. Agnes four years ago. She has held the upper strata scho- lastically ever since and as junior class president showed great enthusiasm and determination for all things per- taining to St. Agnes. She has be- come an integral part of our class and has been selected at various times as class favorite and given honorary dis- tinction. Page 11 ...6 ear (9Id St TCgnes... Joe Gerdes, scrappy guard for St. Agnes, sank the winning field goal in the final 20 seconds to notch the victory. The small St. Agnes squad came through in the clutch Saturday night just as they did in the semi- finals against Melbeta Thursday night when they won by a single point in the final seconds. The tough little Irish squad of 10 boys, nearly the entire male section of the student body of St. Agnes, returned to Alliance late Saturday night happy with their win. Father Whelan, Coach of the team, could hardly speak Sunday morning, he was so proud of his boys. Two years ago St. Agnes won the district tour- nament, went to Lincoln but were knocked off in the first game. Their scrappy, spirited type of play, however, earned for them the respect of the big city crowds as well as the affectionate regard of Alliance cage fans.
