Reverend Father Woijckus and Coach Todd OUR FOOTBALL TEAM This year's Irish six-man football squad had winning ways on the grid. Their seven lettermen put on exhibitions of six-man football os it should be ployed. The Elue and White were alert to intercept passes as well os throw and receive their own forwards; they blocked and tackled with accuracy. Although they had a tough schedule, they came through with an exceptional record, six victories and one defeat. The Irish opened the 1946 season by possing their way to victory over St. Patrick's of Sidney, 15-6. The Blue and Whites defeated Broadwater, 27-12. The able squad notched another victory in their 1945 record who they trounced Mullen, 47-7. St. Patrick's of Sidney again bowed before the locals, 47-20. The Irish, undefeated so for, absorbed a bad beating before St. Patrick's of North Platte. 66-13. Broadwater a- rain foiled to ciash into the win col- umn as they fell before the Irish six who proved to be supreme as they nosed out Broadwater 37-18. St. Ag- nes ended its football season in tri- umph os she outlasted Dalton 1 1 -8.

OUR 1947 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM Frank Merriwell couldn't match the thrill of the last four minutes at Hay Springs Friday night, February 28, 1947, when St. Agnes Irish basketball team nosed out Harrison 34-33 to win the district Class C tournament. The Hny Springs tournament was the fourth for St. Agnes and the third win in a row. Coach Todd's proteges have earned for themselves a good record in fast competition. Orchids to them and to Coach Todd. The Hay Springs meet started mildly. St. Agnes nipped Hay Springs in the opener 41-20 with a minimum of fireworks. The next afternoon the Irish met Hemingford in the semi-finals. The rout of the Hemingford boys was terrific. Final, score was 56-25 and the Irish were never shorper than in this tilt. Every Irish player had a deadly eye and os a result the game was a free scoring affair. Todd's shock troops play- ed only two and one-half quarters and retired to let the reserves keep the meshes busy with field goals and free throws. That night the pay-off was due. Harrison had gone through its first two games with little trouble and were ready for the Alliance Irish squad. Their rugged defense and aggressive offense kept the Irish hustling every second; however during the fourth quarter, with only four minutes to go, St. Agnes had a three point lead. The score was 30-27 for the Irish. Then the teams broke out and the crowd started yelling in a chorus that didn't end until after the final gun.
