MUSIC NOTES GLEE CLUB The St. Agnes Glee Club began its work at the first of the year by presenting an oper- etta, Sunbonnet Sue. Its next performance was the Christmas cantata, Mystery of Bethlehem , on December twentieth. Other Glee Club activities annually looked forward to are the music clinic in Morch, and the music contest in April. The contest soloists this year are: Polly Ann Brew, Alice Tschacher, Lorraine Klatko, Connie Johnson, Sally New- berry, Norky Newberry, Bernard Becker, and Charles Wetzler.

FOOTBALL QUEEN On November 26, 1946, the Football Queen wos crowned at a formal dance held in the auditorium sponsored by the seniors. The candidates Jean Becker, Jackie Bachelor and Edna Dillon were close competi- tors, both in popularity and intelligence. The require- ments of the candidates were an overage of eigthy- five per cent in grades and four years ot Saint Agnes. The football team chose their Queen in strict confid- ence, thus creating curiosity throughout the school. Early in the evening the candidates received beautiful rose corsages. Later, Jim Stewart, football captain, announced and crowned their Queen, Jackie Bachelor. Jim, representing the team gave the Queen a dozen roses, which she in turn, presented to the Blessed Mother. KING AND QUEEN OF HEARTS On the evening of February twelfth the Sophomore class gave a delightful Valentine's party in the audi- torium. The most popular boy and girl were to be crowned King and Queen of Hearts. Everyone was in suspense wondering who the two lucky people would be. Finally the time came to onnounce the winners. DARLENE BEIBER wos our Queen of Hearts and JAMES GIRARD our King of Hearts. A beautiful corsage of red carnotions was presented to our new Queen; a white carnation was presented to our new King. The second in popularity were the Prince and Princess; the third, the Duke and Duchess; the fourth, Lord and Lady.

PIANO St. Agnes specializes in troining students for classical piano music, and their progress is rapid. There are about sixty or seventy piano students yearly and the waiting list is large. The advanced pupils ore to play solos in the music contest. This year the soloists are: Margaret Partridge, Phyllis Smythe, Kathy Phillips, Myrtle White, Jodine McNertney and Cecelia Koehnke. Cecelia Koehnke Catherine Phillips ACCORDIONS In the post few years, accordions hove be- come popular and the number of pupils has increased. The number being large enough for an accordion ensemble. Accordion solo- ists for the contest are: Ann Rock, Leona Walters and Jodine McNertney. Anne Rock, Dolores Hopkins, Darlene Shepherd, Leona Wal- ters, Myrtle White, Jodine McNertney, Leonida Todd, Lois Litzen, Teresa Cody, Kathleen Cody, Catherine White, Joseph Koehnke, Donna Barta.
