The Marathon runners have nothing on us when it comes to Se- curing a first place in line or a select place at our favorite table. During the twenty-two minutes allotted to us for refreshing the inner man. birth- days are celebrated. weighty problems such as, who dated whom. are discussed. and even tests answers are exchanged. No matter how much the students differ in their opinions concerning scholastic subjects. all agree that lunch period is a favorite Major, Chapel The chapel is the center not only of the school building. but also of our school lifc. l roin His tabernacle home on the altar. the Blaster watches over every detail of the day. He is there cvcr ready to receive us. whether we drop in for a short visit before exams. or whether we stay longer to confide to Him our joys and sorrows. or to discuss with Him our problems. Sometimes we pay Him only a pop-call as we dash by. late to class. or again we gather on Tuesday evenings to recite the Rosary for voca- tions. These mcetings were under the leadership of Mrs. Franklin uinn, l1rli'1mentarian of the Inter- national lecleration of Catholic Alumnae. Since that time all important Academy meetings have been con- ductc-d according to the Model f'onvc'ntion of Parlia- mentarians. Mom and Pop became acquainted with first hand knowledge of school, studies, and activities by hurriedly attending twenty minute classes. excluding lunch. They sat in the desks, con- versed with the Sisters, used the slate and marble steps, and even were privileged to use the elevator. In late January a three-day retreat was made under the direction of Reverend Victor Goosens. He inspired the school with many worthwhile thoughts, especially on Faitll. The traditional Sweetheart Ball was held at Cathedral and the sophomore candidate for the dance was Jerry YVoods.
