SOCIAL SCIENCE The Social Science Department was one of the few departments that involved every students. American History has been a required class for Juniors. This year Sophomores were given the opportunity to take American History if they wanted to. In American and World History, the students learned about government and history of the United States and the world. American Problems, Psychology and Humanities were some of the most interesting classes offered at SHS. The students learned about the behavior of people, the problems facing people such as the increase in high school mothers, and the application of art and philosophy to them. Mr. Bird, Mrs. Gardner, Mr. Nielsen, and Mr. Roundy taught the cultures of the past and present. Through their efforts, the students developed a greater appreciation for the world they live in.
