Superintendent s Yjeiia i It has been 25 years since I received my appoint- ment to the challenging position as principal of the Springville Junior and Senior High Schools. There were 777 students and 23 faculty mem- bers in the two schools. All assembly programs and many dances were held in the auditorium. This same auditorium and halls housed the an- nual April Art Exhibit and the Permanent Art Collection. The girls gym was used for all phys ical education classes and competitive basketball games. Homes, gardens, and barns occupied the space where the art building and gym now stand. In recent years the new junior high has been erected, and a definite program of remodeling of the high school is in progress. The two schools today accommodate more than 1250 students. The greatest challenge in education today for parents, teachers, students, and community is to make the quality of education in terms of stud- ents needs, comparable as far as possible with our building and material advancement. Is such analogy impractical and theoretical? If not. let us face realistically the many complex educa- tional problems before us. May the graduation class of 1960 assume the responsibilities of adult life in such a manner as to assure their parents and the community that education is and will continue as Amer- ica’s Magic.” — Superintendent Brockbank Wallace W. Brockbank Superintendent A deep gratitude of thanks goes to Mr. Brockbank as he retires this year. Left to right: Leo A. Crandall Floyd Harmer, president Carl A. Patten, vice pres. Dr. William H. Sorenson Glade Stone Clarence J. Wendell, clerk and secretary
