Aledo was our third game in the race for consolation. We had previously played them twice. We won over them the third time with a score of 55-30. The consolation trophy was won by Springtown when we played Azle. The score was low, but it was a good game, ending with Springtown in the lead, 2.5-18. We took a surprising 44-29 vic- tory over the II-A School. We then took two more vic- tories over the Azle Hornets. We took the first game with a score of 60-47. However, the return match wasn't as easy as the first. We beat the Hornets by a slim margin of two points 57-55. Roger Lowe went for Z3 points in both games and Johnny King trailing with 8 8: 16. It was after the Azle game that tragedy struck our team. One of our main stning guards, Don Moore, suffered a broken leg which left a pretty big hole in a defense that was hard to beat. Our team entered the Weatherford Tournament the next day. They lost to Lake Worth but came back in the third game to take defeat from the Weatherford Kangoroos by a score of 44-43. Larry Odom has also helped the team with his height and driving under the goal. Leroy Pritchard can also handle the ball very well and is one of our fastest players. Johnny King and Roger Lowe have both scored high in every game. We are looking forward to having Ronnie McKenzie, our only Junior, with us next year. TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES HAVE KEPT ELECTRIC RATES LO You don't have to be a real old-timer to recall the days when electric power was gener- ated by a small steam engine. Every time the belt slipped the lights would dim all over town. Today's huge, steam-electric, central generating stations supply metropolitan-type service through networks of transmission lines. The hrst transmission line in Texas.. . from Waco to Waxahachie and to Dallas and Fort Worth . . . was constructed by TP8rI. in 1913. That line provided many communities along the way their first electric service. Year by year the Company has grown and now serves 348,000 customers from some 20,000 miles of line. Through these years the Comcpany has carried on a program of research and evelopment rel- ative to the various phases of its business. As a result, TP8rL's customers have always enjoyed dependable electric service at low cost. For example, since 1936, the cost of living has gone up l08'Z1 while the average unit cost of TP8rI. residential electricity has gone down 4396. TP8rL Company is a business-managed, investor- owned pu lic utility company . . . a typical example of American free entercprise. Its expan- sion requires none of your tax ollars, as is the case of government sponsored power projects, which consume rather than pay taxes. Instead, TP8zL - a good tax-paying citizen wherever it serves - pays taxes amounting to more than 25 cents of each dollar of revenue to help pay for our national defense, to hcl su port schools, fire and police protection auf to liJnance govern- ment services generally.
