result the rest of the class fiye of us to be exact, could not go to Betsy Rosss house, and Betsy 'md Peggy rtcelyed tht silent treatment for two weeks Finally , after a year of crises we embarked on a new era in our hyes at thc Upper School SEVENTH GR NXDE Miss Zaras and various other schools myadcd us, and our close knit group was shattered The Rowdy St Martins gang took over after he small and el1te group of umor Sprmgsiders had d1s1ntegrated lhat year we contributed greatly to the umor Glee Club under the excellent dntc tion of Mr Bostwlck And with the strains of Tea for Two still lingering in our ears, we ad vanced on to Eighth Grade EIGHTH GRADE Molly s second term as class president became more orderly with the help of added experience and the guidance of Mllt PLch1n Our imitation of Madame Foussamts wax works was a great success at the hair YVe ll never forget Mary Esthers sudden fit of laughter when she was por ttaylng Une grande dame This seemed to be Esthers big year as the strains of Curtain, Mary Esthcrln filled the gym during rehearsals for the Christmas play Our dramatic talents were also displayed in oan of Arc when Balenc as the Dauphin cut her hair practically to the roots ln order to stay in character It has been growing eyer since This was the only year the Midget team was undefeated 1n all four sports, hockey, basketball lacrosse, and baseball Spurred on t greater things we entered Ninth Grade with chances of making the varsity teams NINTH GRADE Our hopes were fulfilled as Peggy Bogan did make the varsity Louise Purves was the only new addltlon to our class this year New horizons opened ln all the fields as quite a few of us for into the Glee Club, osslc and Betsy had parts in the dramatic Club play The Barretts of Xxrllnplblc Street, and the cultured group strove to teach Anne Miller the my sterles of classical muslc But this was not a year of merely cultural develop ments Who will ever forget Ellen s famous canasta party f Our class gained a new reputation, that of being the fastest on the stairs through snow and sleet when we had to go outside to get to the lunch room Unhapplly the year ended, for with it went all thc girls who departed for boarding school TEINTH GR KDE To make up for this great loss of classmates, Patti and Sally Joined our now yery diminished class Our hockey talents contmutd to amaze the. school when Ronny made the Interscholastlc Team, being the youngest one ever to do lt, and Martha and anne Miller made the yarsxty team The ways of life in France were divulged to us in Mrs VVh1tcombs French class where Anne Straus also picked up a name of dubious French origin which has stuck with her ever since Tales of Edlths week ends and Peggys ring problems llyened up the numerous notes that were passed during classes on lVIonday mornings This year was high lighted by the Hrst of Dolly s ney er to be forgotten slumber parties, the beginning of our famous sextet, and our TVVFC the Teddy VVood Fan Club of which loame was the presl dent, and membership was required ln order to keep in her good graces ELEVEINTH GRADE YVe started our umor year with two new addl tions, Raleigh Chaffee and Mary QRock Stone Carole and Ellen dazzled us with their new Fords, while two former members of our class, Peggy Bogan and C Swope surprised us by announcing their marriage VVe commend Miss QISIIIUICIT for keeping our notorious homeroom meetings under control although cries of revote lhat costs too much were continual One of the outstanding events of the year was Balene s slumber party on the 81 foot Christmas Tree, despite the fact that our slumber on deck was disrupted by a slight downpour at 3 A NI Our umor year was cll maxed by winning the posture award and by tying for the Song Nlgllt cup TVVELP FH GR -KDE For the first time IH our history we were honored by 112 foreign students we share Mai with the 11 Great tales of Europe were related by Peggy Sally and Margo while the class stood up and bowed to X ou re m Camp Red Pox Now Thanks to -Xnne and Ronny Betsy, oan, and Mart told us of their experiences 1n the wild and woolly VVest Carole and Edith enlightened our dreary mornings with threats of lNo Yearbook -Xds or Else Our class dance proved to be a great success for we were reunited for probably the last time with the mayorlty of our old class mates Thoughts of our futur occupied our minds throughout the year but it all boiled down to one pattern College and Marrlagel Twenty thi ec' . r ' 1 A 1 - 4 y ' a , , .
