CLASS IPQEM Now it's all over, we're inclined To thinlc we,re cultured and refine Ready lor dances, and for teas, lntelligent, and sure to pleasel Seek lcnowledgeln-'lhat's what we were told. Alas, the idea left us cold, And though our worlc, somehow, got done, We sought for laughter, and for fun. You thinlc this Flippant? Not at alll Would not a heavier manner pall? The recitation and the test Made us, at least, assume a zest For learning, and at last we found Our feet on Fairly solid ground. Qur insight reaches-everywhere! We can be solemn, serioush At times almost imperious, Can reason aptly and display lmagination grave or gay. Nor was it dull as we had thought, lndeed, our interest was caught- For that's the slcillful teachers' art, To rouse ambition in the heart. Springside, Thou hast given us wit, Knowledge, Wisdom-quite a bit- Grace and ease, and savoir faire, And for learning-what a Flare! EMILY I-l. DRIPPS. Page Thirty IPRESIIDIENTDS ADDRESS W E HAVE all loolted forward, mostolus with longing, to this moment in our lives, the day when we should graduate from school, and now that this day has arrived we are not so sure that all we have waited for lives up to our expectations. What the world expects of us we have yet to Find out. Just now we were seniors, at the top of the world we have lcnown and suddenly we are novices again, studying a new sort of thing which seems to have none of the rules and regulations our school life has had. l lowever we under- stand more fully that our training has not been ornamental, as we have sometimes thought, but that it will teach us how to conduct ourselves in this new life into which we are going. This year we lost someone who has signified to us all that Springside stood For. The death of Mrs. Chapman has left us and the rest of the school with the feeling that we were luclcy indeed to have been for so many years under her guidance. If we, asa graduating class, can go out and carry with us the ideals which she, by her life set forth, we will have accomplished in some measure all that she strove lor.
