THE WOLVERINE The wolverine weighs only 40 pounds but fears nothing on Earth. It’s fierce and vicious, and has been known to attack and kill a polar bear. The wolverine’s back is slightly arched and its tail hangs down to the ground. It has short legs; long, thick, glossy hair; and small, widely spaced eyes. These fascinating animals roam the northern forests of the United States and Canada, northern Scandinavia, Russia and Poland. School Song Rise ye men of Springlake High School Rise in strength today. For we will stand behind you In that good 'ole Springlake way. Through the darkest hours, the brightest, Faithful we will be; So faithful to the Green and Gold Throughout eternity. Fight Song Dear ’ole Wolverines, Dear ’ole Wolverines, Join right in and sing. All are loyal, we declare Yes, victory we bring. We’re the backers, There’s no slackers In our Springlake High The spirit of the Green and Gold Will never die. 2 THE WOLVERINE Table of Contents Dedication............................................... 4 Administration........................................... 5 Seniors................................................. 11 Juniors................................................. 31 Sophomores.............................................. 37 Freshman................................................ 41 Favorites............................................... 45 Organizations........................................... 69 Awards.................................................. 77 Athletics............................................... 87 Spirit..................................................107 Junior High.............................................113 Elementary..............................................129 Advertisement...........................................145 3 ANNUAL DEDICATION The 1983-84 WOLVERINE is proudly dedicated to Betty and Bill Anderson. SMITH MESSAGE TO FACULTY AND STUDENT BODY----- I am happy for this opportunity to congratulate the Annual Staff and Sponsor for producing thta fine yearbook. A book auch aa this requires aany hours of hard work. I would like to express ay appreciation to the students for manifesting a fine attitude throughout the school year. The people In this community have a right to be proud of the youth of this school district. I am especal1ly grateful to the SprInglake-Earth School Faculty and School Employees for the superior Job they have done this year. This school has never had a finer faculty and I ha ve never been associated with a better and sort devoted group of teachers. It will certainly be a challenge to make the coming school year more productive than this one. However, 1 have enough confidence in the members of the school staff and student body to believe that they will be sincerely devoted to the task ahead. My thanks again for this fine Annual and for being able to share a part of your lives. TO BEGIN PLAY: Play of WOLVERINE begins when a player takes the game from the game shelf. That player begins play and it is his move. Play may begin on any one of the puzzles marked ELEMENTARY. JUNIOR HIGH, FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, SENIOR, FAVORITES, SPORTS, ORGANIZATIONS, FACULTY, SPIRIT, or AWARDS or any of the 176 starting positions. It is recommended, but not necessary, to complete one section before moving to another. FIRST PLAYER may complete the entire game before passing to the next player, or the moves may be shared by two or more players. IN CASE OF SHARED PLAY, the game must be kept between players at all times. It is recommended that hands be kept on or above game table at all times. STOPPING PLAY: Should a player be stopped in the ADMINISTRATION DIVISION, he must begin again at start. If play is interrupted in the FACULTY SECTION, that player must draw eight unexcused tardies and advance to the beginning of the SENIOR PAGES. (Do NOT pass graduation—Do NOT collect diploma.) A PLAYER WHO IS STOPPED in the FAVORITES SECTION must find the photos of Allen Ford, Richard Monreal, Alonso Garcia, or Sandy Clayton and kiss each photo once. (Photos of Kerri Tunnell, Patsy Garza, Shawndi Geissler, or Shelly Smith may be allowable as alternate penalty.) A STOP IN THE SPORTS SECTION requires player to quote scores of all WOLVERINE and LADY WOLVERINE games. Should error be noted in quotations, player is required to shoot the game, free throw style, into the wastebasket at ten paces. PLAY WHICH IS INTERRUPTED in the ORGANIZATIONS SECTION may resume only when that player donates a service for three organizations. SHOULD A PLAYER BE STOPPED in the SPIRIT SECTION, he may continue only after leading a cheer or carrying a flag at a game or a pep rally. If a player is stopped on a CLASS PUZZLE, he must memorize three new names from that puzzle. ANY PLAYER WHO IS STOPPED on the page of any advertiser must visit all advertisers and personally thank them for their support of the WOLVERINE. COMPLETING PLAY: Any player completing WOLVERINE ‘84 is declared a winner and receives many pleasant memories. Female winners are entitled to one free date with the editor of WOLVERINE ‘84 (Mark Jordan). In the case of male winners the editor will appoint his assistants (Shclli Bcerwinklc, Wendy Bulls, Mitzi Dutton, Jcri Been, or Robin Ray) as replacements.
