Text from Pages 1 - 188 of the 1971 volume:

Travis Jaquess has been a member of the Springlake-Earth community for around forty years. Although Travis was injured while working this year on the school campus, he has maintained his devotion to his activities. Travis works with Boy Scouts; is a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Earth; and serves our school as maintenance supervisor. Therefore, it is with our pleasure that we dedicate the 1971 edition of the Wolverine annual to Travis Jaquess. Life When I said goodbye to all my friends, it was my last goodbye because I knew I would not ever ever see them again. I wept my last tears and they wept theirs and some laughed because I knew - like they knew -that there was no tomorrow and there was no tomorrow. Good-bye A Thought I know not the answers of that I am in search for; but then, there are no real acknowledgments for such quests as mine - and still I continue. by: Robert Richardson In Memory R obert Lamar Richardson SCHOOL SONG Rise ye men of Springlake High School Rise in strength today For we will stand behind you In the Good Ole Springlake way. Through the darkest hours, the brightest Faithful we will be; Faithful to the Green and Gold Throughout Eternity • SCHOOL “FIGHT” SONG Dear Ole Wolverines, dear Ole W olverines Join right in and sing All are loyal, we declare Yes, victory we bring, rah, rah, rah, We’re the backers, there’s no slackers In our Springlake High The spirit of the Green and Gold W ill never die 7 Superintendent TO THE FACULTY AND THE STUDENT BODY My sincere congratulations to the annual staff for this fine production of the “Wolverine”. The quality of this book reflects much planning and hard work. I would like to say thanks to the faculty for the many hours of time and effort given to the school program and for being so highly dedicated to the cause of education of the youth of this community. A school can be no better than its teachers. The very “heart and soul” of a school is a qualified, dedicated staff. My congratulations go to the student body as a whole for being the type of students that any school or any community would be proud of. Your conduct and attitude reflects credit on your families, your school and your community. The faculty is fortunate to be associated with such fine young people. Our lives will be richer and fuller for having known you. 8 Thanks again to the annual staff fora job well done. Sincerely, William L.
